OCC: Since we dont have a board to suit this environment. Ill post here. Hope ya likes. Ive been ichen for something sci fy.
Space and time.... the untamed lands without boarders. Without limitations. It has been six long years since Rothgar was recruited by Valtor. A federation of peacekeepers that held jurisdiction in multiple galaxys and dimensions. Now, after Rothgars long absense on the VFS military battleship the Orion. He would soon be near the home and life he left behind.
Countless stars scattered across the black abyse of space. A single blue planet stood out among stars. The continents of Alelea and Alagasia visible. Though everything was peaceful and calm. Something disturbed it. A blue rift hole opened up and a large battlship came flying out to slow to a halt.
Rothgar sat in his personal quarters looking out the window of his room to the planet below. Rothgar was 27 now. His hair cut in the classic military high and tight. The uniform he wore was blue in color. On the left chest of his uniform was the symbol of a planet with a wreath around it. The federations insignia.
Slowly Rothgar put up a hand to touch the forcefield window that was all that seperated the cold vacume of space from him. There was a beep and the captain spoke on the intercom. "All personal resume dutys. Jump to RX 34915 of the terren system is complete. ETS 24 hours" Rothgar pulled back his hand from the forcfield window and pressed a button. Slowly a metal shield lowered like blinds until the window was covered.
As much as Rothgar wanted to go visit his family. He would never see them again. Such was the price of accepting the job offer he took. One could hardly blame him in the choice. Draca, were very adventurous creatures. The Orion was not here for pleasure. They had been on a black ops mission into a uncharted system. All that was known by the civilian contractors that made up 40 percent of the crew was that they held some valuable cargo. To the soldiers and officers stationed on the Orion. The cargo was codenamed "the philosophers legacy" This dimension they came to was just the final leg of there journey. The Orion would be here for 24 hours until the rift drives were powered up again. onboard the Orion
There was a beep and a holographic image of a soldier in a powersuit appeared. The soldier took off his helmet and with a hiss of air it came of revealing a human like women. The only difference being her skin was blue. Her eyes gold.
"Sargeant Glasscock. Its your squads time for guard" Rothgar nodded his head. "I know" The women on the screen looked at Rothgar twirling a gold ring around his finger. "still miss her?" Rothgar nodded his head. "Im sure shes still." the women on the holo image interupted him. "Your wifes dead Sargeant. You know that. Let go okey? I'm really worryed about you. You never come hit up the ships bar with us anymore off duty. All you do is sit in your room watching old holo vids"
Rothgar stopped playin with his ring. "yeah, I know, but it will take some time. Ill be down there in a bit with my squad. Just let me hit up the armory and get my power suit and battle rifle ready" he hit the end communication button and the image faded. Putting on a cap he sighed to walk out his room door that hissed open automatically for him.
24 hours later....
A civilian 4 crew cargo ship jumped into the local vicinity of the Orion. The coms guy noticed the bleeps of a Distress beacon. Tapping on the keyboard the man braught up a holographic image of the military battleship Orion. Speaking on the comms the man hailed the Orion. "VFS Orion, this is the horst. We have picked up your distress beacon. Do you require aid?" The man paused and got nothing but crackling static. "I say again. VFS Orion, this is the horst. Please respond" Nothing but crackling static. The comms man looked to his captain. "I've never heard of a military destroyer having a complete comms blackout before. You think with over 3000 people on board someone would pick up the phone. Whats your call boss? You want to try and dock with her and see if we can help them military faggots out with there comm trouble? Or do you want us to continue on scedule to the
verdis colony? They will be expecting our supply shiment. And probably wont pay us all the money for delivery if we are late." Sounded like he was more concerned about making money then helping out a fellow ship in need.

A small, metal dog, who looked a bit like a box with a metal head and tail, rolled out around a corner of the Orion. He'd sneaked on from a planet, following a faint trace of the person he was looking for. Person? More like alien, but to him they were all persons. He rolled over to a speaker and his side opened up to extend a cable that attached.
K-9 Mark Five receiving interrupted signal. Please repeat.
The voice was mechanical, as if recorded. And, in a way, it was. K-9 was a robot after all. It was only the Time Lord technology used to make him that made the primative ships(compared to what K-9 was used to of course. The TARDIS was a LIVING ship, and topclass, after all) able to connect to each other. The Mark V version was the latest K-9, created by Alexx and her family after K-9 Mark IV had been blown up by a stray laser gun. He had attached primarily to Alexx, though, much to the Doctor's disappointment. Needless to say, he began to analyze the ship while he was waiting. He was used to multitasking.
Analyzation. Communications cut, engines with 15% fuel remaining. Landing immediately is suggested for highest survival rate. 25% chance of landing gear working appropriately. Danger level: High risk.
Clearly something had gone terribly wrong somewhere along the line.

Things had not gone very well at all. Rothgar lost most of his men to the 'bio contaminent'. the comms array was damaged. they could recieve messesges but could not send any. Engineers were busy trying to fix the ruptured fuel and coolent tanks. The list went on. Following a messege from the captain on the bridge Rothgar took a lift down to the hanger bays. Unfortunatly the orion had no means of communicating with the civilian ship other then flares.
While listening to the radio chatter in his power suit helmet Rothgar broke a glass covered lever and pulled. Outside the ship flashing yellow guide lights on the hull would direct the civilian ship wich dock bay to enter.
Despite the urgent situation Rothgar casually pulled another lever that opened the landing bay doors. Once again a shield barrier stopped a vacum effect from sucking him into space. It was strong enough to keep space back. Yet weak enough to allow a craft to enter the bay unhindered.
Rothgar rested the battle rifle against his shoulder ignoring the bay workers who were stacking bloody body bags in piles all over the place. He was more concerned about if the civilian aircraft would land. Even more important.... did they have technitions and engineers. Most of the Orions maintenence crews were either dead or to undermanned to deal with all the massive internal damage all over the destroyer.
Rothgar looked around nervously. Talking into the helmet audio device he called the brige through the interal communication network. The only damn thing that seemed not to be broken.
"Captain, I think I might be suffering a mental breakdown. I'm hearing and seeing things" Rothgar heard wispering in his head. The captains voice quickly came back on the secure channel on the military personal had access to. "negative, you are just suffering some feedback from the philosophers legacy. The scientists said when it went active the artifact started emiting high frequancy waves that affect the brains alpha, bravo, and omaga brain waves. Report to the medical bay if symptoms continue. The doctors are already reporting some serious cases in the civilian crew members." Rothgar looked up to the blinking hazard lights on the loading dock ceiling. "Like what?" The captains voice came back. "Dementia, paranoia, sychotic behavior..... insanity" Rothgar shook his head. "Perfect...."
OCC: Aw, thats cute.

Detecting airborne contaminant. Standby and do not dock.
They couldn't hear the little robot sending out it's messages to the civilian crew, but it was clear someone was responding to them. It sounded almost as if they had someone able to know what was going on on the Orion aboard their own ship, even though they didn't.
I will assist with power failures. Goodbye.
And with that, he simply retracted the cable that had allowed him to hook up to the comms unit and get it working at least for him, and then set off. On his way, he passed the landing bay, and his sensors detected a life form that was alive. He spun and rolled in, radio-signal-receptive ears swivelling.
Do you require assistance, sir?
Alexx had given him manners, at least. But every K-9 model, even long-gone Mark I had done similar.

"damn civies...." Rothgar muttered behind his mask. The eye view ports glowing green. "There bloody useless" He would wait a few more minutes. He turned his head to the sounds of weapons fire achoeing from somewhere in the ship. The ship intercom sounded loudly. "Containment teams report to the corridors 4 and 9 on leverl 6." There was a pause and the ship AI voice came back. "Mutiple flatlines detected in eastern block crew quarters.
"S*@T!" Rothgar thought. "the problem was becoming a problem. At this rate they would have to evacuate the ship. That was if the captain let them. He locked down all the escape pods and shuttles as far as he knew.
Hearing a strange voice Rothgar looked down to a robot dog? he crouched to look at it. "A mark 19?... No. something different. Yes I could use your help little one? The cargo ship send you over?"
The main lift came down and a squad of power suited soldiers with battle rifles came up to Rothgar. "Sargeant, We have been ordered to the Med labs. Contact has been lost." There was a loud hum sound and the lights went out. Pitch blackness enveloped the docking bay. A alarm blared and red flashing lights started blinking as the ship AI said.
"Warning, Bio hazard detected in Bravo Docking bay. Quarantine activated. Louds clacks sounded as containment doors slammed shut over all the exits. All the soldiers formed a circle back to back. "Swich on thermal imaging" Rothgar told his men. The glowing green eyeslots of the soldiers turned red as there optics ativated.
Rothgar scanned through the pitch blankness of the docking bay barely lit by flashing alarm lights. His battle rifle held ready. Banging could be heard in the walls and ceilings. "oh god" A young private said. "There here" Rothgar could hear the murmurs among his men through the helmet radio. He spoke to them in a voice of authority and confidence to try and keep everyone calm. It was hardly worth it for the civilians trapped in the bay with them. They already dropped the body bags they were piling up and running away in fear to bang on the containment doors and beg to be let out.
"Stay calm men. Scan your sectors" There was a loud crack. And a shadowed figure came dropping from a air vent in the ceiling to land in the circle of soldiers whos backs were turned to eachother. "What the hell was that sound!?" Someone called out. "Somethings in here...." As a red flashing warning light landed on the figure it was clear it was alien. Yet once human in appearance. It wore the uniform of a crewmember. Its flesh was was cracked and even missing on some parts. Where arms once were, there now was blades of bone. Mutated by the alien virus.
With a loud roar the monster cut a soldier in half with its bladed arms. a loud long BEEEEEEP sound came from the soldiers suit signalling he went deadline. "OPEN FIRE!" Rothgar ordered. The pitch black of the docking bay was lighted up with flashes as the soldier opened up on the monster. Its head was blown off followed by his arms but still it kept coming at them until a pulse round hit the former humans nerve colum in the spine.
More loud banging from vents echoed everywhere. They were under siege and trapped until the quarantine lifted. But that would only happen through a hack. Or until Rothgar and his men killed all the things and the ship AI detected no more.
Another creature dropped from the 300 feet up dock vent opening and cut off another soldiers head neatly with its bladed arms. As the soldiers were busy fireing into more of them that appeared out the wall. The creature looked to K-9 and charged at it with unatural speed.
Rothgar was tackled by one of the former crew members and was pinned to the ground under it. Holding the blades with his armored hands Rothgar dodged his head left and right to avoide the snapping razer sharp jaws just iches from his helmet. With a shaky hand Rothgar grabbed a holstered blaster on this thigh to shove the barrel in the cretures mouth. "EAT THIS!" With a bang and splatter he pushed the creature off and stood up now seeing all his men were dead.

K-9 had been about to reply, but then stopped as trouble began to ensue. He spun to face the oncoming alien, with little fear. He had no fearful emotions.
Charging and firing laser.
His nose began to glow a slight red, then a beam shot out, burning a hole through the mutated creature. He began swinging back and forth, sending off the lasers as fast as he could.
Suggested you initiate running sequences, sir. My scanners have picked up more mutated lifeforms. Power levels are too low for a teleport after the dimension jump.

Rothgar bashed the face of a charging creature with the buttstock of his rifle and shot it in the head as it fell on the ground. He needed guidance.
"EVA!" He said on the helmet comm. "Lift the containment doors in Bay 3" The female voice of the ship AI responded flatly.
"Negative. Unknown lifeforms still present" Rothgar was getting tired of this. But he understood. Containment and control was everything.. Looking around nervously at the banging in the vents he said again. "EVA, activate the remote sentry guns"
"Negative" The EVA said. "Due to internal damage to wiring. I cannot access internal defence network in your sector. Proceed to data port 894 on the southern wall and ativate manually." Rothgar ran over towards the wall just barely ducking under a beam from the strange AI robot he had for ally.
Breaking the glass over the panel a keyboard slid out a slot and Rothgar started to type on it. Seconds later panels on the wall and ceilings opened up and machine guns lowered. But instead of firing. Sparks flew out from them and EVA's voice came back to his helmet earpiece.
"Data curruption detected. Repair it and the defence network will activate" Rothgar looked at all the fancy complicated numbers flashing on the terminal. "how the hell am I suppose to fix it? Im a soldier for gods sake. Not some friggen computer tech. Hey you" Robot. Try and fix the data curruption in the terminal network. I will cover you"
Rothgar did not know what K-9 was doing at the terminal. But whatever it was. It worked. the remote sentry guns hummed to life and cut down all the mutated crew members. Seconds later flames went flying out all the air vents and ducks as the purge was iniated.
With a ding. power returned to the landing bay and the lights turned back on. "Bio hazard threat aliminated. Quarantine lifted" EVA's voice sounded in the loading bay. Morgue officials have been notifed and are en route to your location to secure deceased crew members. A airborne antogin for the alien virus has been developed by med lab techs and is being amisistered now"
Rothgar looked at all his dead buddys and let out a muffled sigh from behind his power suit helmet. The cargo life opened up and uniformed morgue officials with body bags and gas mask went over to secure the bodys. Eva's voice said over the ship intercom again.
"Virus Antogin successful. Bio hazard threat contained and aliminated. Running damage report now..... 273 crew members declared deceased from orginal 3460. Communications still down.Teams on site are reapairing now. Power outages in sectors 4-19. Fuel and coolent tanks still ruptured and leaking. Ship wide alert lifted. All military personal return to regular dutys. Repair teams report to damaged areas for repair and assesment"
Rothgar leaned his back against the wall. He could not believe how calm the Orions AI was. telling everyone to return to normal dutys as if nothing happened. But considering what did happen. It was impressive that that EVA managed to contain the alien virus and aliminate it. He turned to the civilian robot. 'Contact your masters and tell them to dock emediatly and lend whatever aid they can to get this ship back up and running" Rothgar hated robots and AI.
Not paying K-9 much attention he left for the lift to return to normal patrol dutys as ordered. They would meet again later. As the lift went up Rothgar got to thinking. "All this ove some damn artifact we found..... better be worth all the trouble.
Hours later Rothgar was with a detachment of his fellow soldier standing in front of the cargo holds door with letters "Resticted Acess. Military personal only" The civilian work force on the Orion were protesting and demanded to be told what was going on. The danger of a riot was growing high.
"You army bastards are hiding something from us!" a civilian mechanic covered in grease and oil yellled. Yes" Another civilian yelled. "We demand answers" A brief scuffle broke out and Rothgar with his comrades arrested and detained several crew members. When things died down and EVA talked some sense into the civilian workforce to resume there dutys.
A soldier said to Rothgar. "Damn Civies. Why do our battlships even have to have contractors? Dont the military have enough people? Cant believe they get paid more then us
Rothgar blew it off with a wave of his hand. "Screw it. Why worry about what you cant change. Like the fact we will be stuck here for a couple of weeks until the ship is fully operational. I cant wait till I get off duty soon. Going to hit the bottle hard at the ships bar later and get myself laid, god knows I need it
The soldier he talked to nodded his helmet. "Aye, I guess that is one benifet of having civilians onboard. Plenty of women to be had. Though honestly sargeant I cant picture you getting laid outside of a sock and porno vid"
Rothgar was not amused by the private clowning on him. He gave the young private the middle finger and said loudly. "FU@% you cherry. Do pushups! I will smoke you till you die!"
With a groan the private put down his battle rifle and started to do pushups

K-9, masterless simply began rolling around the ship, searching now for who he had come aboard with. It would only figure that, as K-9 found him, Jack's luck that he had been found by someone else as well. His slightly tattered, old military trench coat(which Owen kept saying made him look entirely gay), opened in a upside down V as he raised his hands in surrender, the classical Harkness smile gracing his face. An alarm could be heard going off, with repetitious comments of 'Intruder detected'. A natural joker, Jack made the peace sign on his right hand.
I come in- K-9! Glad you made it! I'm presuming the Doctor didn't, or they wouldn't be worried about me?
Affirmative.
Completely forgetting that there were weapons pointed at him, Jack knelt down to check over the robotic dog, who had wheeled over.
And look at that. Not a scratch on you. Alexx built you well.
His 'ears' swivelled happily, and his 'tail' wagged a bit as well.
Affirmative.
ANd then Jack groaned as he heard a weapon fired, a moment later he was dead.... Well, not for long, though. He lay there, face down for a moment, still and unmoving, clearly deceased. Then his eyes shot open again as he drew in a deep breath and sat up.
God, why am I destined to never die?!?!
It got annoying after awhile, not being able to die. Not to mention, coming back felt like being dragged over shards of glass. No one ever said it was easy being killed so many times you've lost count.
I do not understand the question.
Jack sighed, miserably.
S'alright K-9. It was rhetorical.
Understood.

Rothgar typed at the hologracphic keyboard on the wrist comp of his suit. EVA, for unknown reasons chose him as her spectre. There were only one on each military ship. Soldiers, chosen by the ship AI to be there 'company' of sorts. Rothgar felt it funny that a computer intelligence would even desire company. Especially EVA who he frequently called a 'heartless bitch'
EVA was directly linke to his suit. And in case of a emergency. Could transphere herself over to Rothgar if need be. Right now he was playing a virtual chess game with EVA. Off course he lost. He always lost.
Tell me about your wife" EVA said into his helmet. Unheard by anyone else. Rothgar quickly replyed. "its something I dont want to talk about EVA" As he moved a rook piece she said again. "I understand" That hit a nerve. He shut down his wrist comp and looked down the hallway in front of cargo hanger door.
"No you dont. Your a machine EVA. You dont understand a god damn thing. You have no emotions. No regret, no sorrow. Why else did you kill all those poor people in the containment zone by blasting them out a airlock. Just dont talk to me right now. I'm angry at you" He felt the rod in the suit retreat out of his flesh near his spinal column. EVA's way of linking directly to his nerve stem and brain.
Feeling her presence disapear out his head Rothgar now turned his attention to some strange man who just came crawling out of a floor grate. "What the... ha, check this fag out sarge" The private muttered. Rothgar and his battle buddy both raised there battle rifles at him as EVA sounded the intruder alarm.
Rothgar lowered his weapon though as K-9 came up to him. The little robot helped him out earlier. Rothgar ignored EVA's orders to kill the intruder. But the private was not so free thinking. He fired his rifle into the mans chest and went over to his dead body.
This guy must of lost his damn mind sneaking onto a military vessel. as the man sat up Rothgar muttered. "impossible..." The private how had slung his rifle grabed the combat pistol off his hip and shot the man in the head to stand over his dead body again. Every time the man opened his eyes and looked like he was about to say something the private shot him in the head. It went on for a couple of humurous minutes until the private looked over to Rothgar.
"Hey sarge. Whats wrong with this guy? How cum he wont die? Rothgar went over and pushed the private aside. "out of my way you corn eating red kneck son of a bitch The man was not completly back from the dead yet. Using that window of opportunity Rothgar rolled him onto his belly and put some gravity shackles on his wrists behind the back. Now that the man was consious again Rothgar grabbed him by the scruff of his trenchcoat and roughly pulled him onto his feet.
EVA had just ordered him to take the prisoner to the brig. "Okey ass clown. On your feet. Your heading to the brig" The relief for there guard duty just arrived and the private went to his room to change into civilian cloths now he was off duty. Something Rothgar wished he was doing now.
Walking behind the prisoner. With K-9 just rolling alongside his master Rothgar started to bitch at the man. "thanks alot asshole. Instead of getting off work I'm now stuck guarding your worthless ass
The lights in the long corridoor started to blink and die until blackness surrounded them. "anomonly detected" EVA said in his helmet. Out of the blackness a blond headed women appeared. Glowing with what rothgar could only describe a angelic light. It was his dead wife. Only he could seee and hear her now. outstretching her arms to him the human women from earth said. "I love you rothgar. Make us whole again...." With a hum the lights went back on and the women was gone. Rothgar shook his head. "Damn artifact is messing with my head again.... he thought. All over the ship people were seeing and hearing things. It was growing quite routine on this strange voyage. "Anomoly gone" EVA's voice said in his helmet. "Proceed to Brig and guard prisoner until your relief comes." She paused. "I know you want to get off work so I will be as quick as I can"
Rothgar roughly shoved the man in the back with the barrel of his battle rifle. "Huryy up shit stain. I dont have all day!" He told the man from the audio device outside of his helmet. "Dont mess with dragons stranger, for though art crispy and good with catchup he said with a laugh. He could not change and eat this man in such tight quarters such as a ship. But then again he had not changed to his natural form or eaten man flesh in many years. Rothgar thought himself a mere human now. The hatred he once held for them long gone after marrying one.
Rothgar threw the man in a box like cell of thick glass. As he left and closed the cell door he heard EVA say over the ceiling intercom. "I have been reading over your files in my data base. We could use a man like.." He heard no more as the cell door closed.
After a few minutes EVA ordered him to release the prisoner. Some kind of arrangment was struck. that is all he knew or cared to know. Taking off the gravity shackles Rothgar said to the man. "So EVA pardened you eh. Hey, sorry for the way i treated you ealier. It was nothing personal. Just doing my job. Speaking of wich. I'm off now."
Rothgar reached up to his power suit helmet and hit some catches. with a hiss of air he took off his helmet revealing his face for the first time. There was a large claw scar across it giving him a savage appearance. Oddly enough his eyes were a irridencent crimson. The tell tale sign he was a draca.
Slinging his rifle and putting the helmet under his left armpit Rothgar offered a gloved hand to shake. "The names Rothgar Glasscock. How about i take you to dirty reads for a few beers. No hard feelings?"

K-9, not wanting to be left behind, had followed the two silently to the brig of the ship, and powered down to standby mode, so he could recharge after the jump to this universe. By the time Jack was out, the robot was fully charged an turning back on.
Jack smiled back, temporarily lost in the man's red eyes. Not that that was uncommon; Everyone at Torchwood joked about how he would sleep with anyone, male or female, alien or human. And it wasn't just a rumor; it was indeed, based off fact. And when offered a beer... Well, he wasn't going to complain. He held out a hand to shake.
Captain Jack Harkness. A beer sounds like a wonderful idea.
Ianto had had him on a 'no drinking policy for the last month, just to see if he could manage. Of course, he did, but he HAD had to put up with shocks from this inhumane alien torture shock collar. It had killed him once or twice, mainly in the shower were the water would make it short circuit, but dear Ianto hadn't let him take it off, even then. Which was surprising, really. Usually he was the most sane of the group, followed closely by Gwen, then Toshiko, then Jack himself. Coming in a dead last was somewhat insane Dr. Owen Harper. It was a wonder they kept him around, sometimes. His thoughts were interrupted by K-9.
You have no ship to captain, sir. It was blown up in your first encounter with Rose Tyler and the Doctor, in the blitz of World War II.
Jack grinned with a reply for the small dog already slipping right on out.
I know, K-9. But it's still got a nice ring to it.
Affimative.
The Captain wasn't full of himself at all....Okay, maybe entirely, but that was besides the point.

Rothgar gave them mans hand a strong firm handshake. Like the old saying went. You could always tell the character of a man by his handshake. "Well captain, wheres your ship?" It was not long before he got his answer from K-9. Rothgar had no idea about what WW 2 was. nor did he care.
Waving a hand to follow Rothgar led the man to his room. It was plain really. There was a nice view of the planet below. A photo of a women on a desk covered in books. And a plain bed with white sheets.
Rothgar came out the closet with just a plain tshirt with blue jeans and sneakers. Nothing fancy. He had no intrest of impressing anyone tonight. "im ready to go." the bar was pretty drowl. The sign read. "Dirty reads. Bad food, warm beer, surly service. Dont like our standards? Lower yours'
Rothgar led his new friend over to a stool and ordered two pints. As the civilian bartender put two mugs of beer down in front of the two Rothgar let out a hiss. "Ah, the golden goodness" he raised the mug to the captain. "Drink, eat, be merry, for tommorow we may die" With that he tilted his head back to drink.
A rather bleak toast. But the soldiers tended to have dark humor. One could hardly blame them. The bar was mostly filled with soldier. There haircuts being the tell tale sign. There was a considerable amount of women around. Humanoid, Human, or completly out there alien. They just came because it was ladys night. All alchohol was 75% off.
"So" Rothgar said to the captain and gave him a rough pat on the back. "What does EVA have planned for you? You going to help us get this old girl up and running? It will take a couple of weeks to do that"

After a few moments of silence between them, though it was far from actually silent, Jack glanced over at Rothgar.
You know what's strange? You see a man come back to life, over and over, and you don't say a single word about it. Hell, back home even Ianto said something about it, and he is far from the talkative type.
He said this while fiddling with a watch-like device, trying to set up a connection to back home. All he managed was static, and he frowned slightly. So much for hearing their voices. He hadn't even given them warning. There would be hell to pay when he got back. Again.

Rothgar let out a small laugh at the mans comment. "Well" He pointed out a viewport to the buetiful planet below. "Ive seen far more impossible things back on my home planet. For now just because I am a ignorant man that hates trying to make sense of everything. I will just assume it is magic" His hand burst into black flames as he summoned the chaotic magic of his race to the surface. With a puff the black flames went out and he took another drink from the mug.
Magic. THe unexplainable anomonly that scientists have all given up hope of explaining. Though many worlds had the faint presence of it. This world was the only one that it seemed to rule. The reason why Rothgar was offered to join the crew many years ago.

...I always told the Doctor there had to be something to tales of magic to keep them going. He just said it made a nice story.
Jack mused, taking a mouthful from his own beer and placing it down again. He found it hard to believe, but he was a bit bored. Usually, whenever it got quiet, he'd relax a bit, and then the rift would start acting up. Or the pterodactyl would fly over, longer than usual, and get him thinking. But here, at this moment, there was nothing. No aliens to catch, question, or save. And so his mind wandered through memories. Millions of them, for thousands of years. He got distracted by K-9 speaking and glancing down to his only companion.
Mistress has been located. SIgnal reads she's down below.
The planet below, huh? Yeah, just like her to be difficult to get at, wouldn't you say?
Affirmative.
Jack sighed and stretched. Alexx could wait until he had finished this beer. Maybe another. After all, she was clearly still alive, or K-9 wouldn't have been able to pick up any trace of her. He went back to his conversation, though it wasn't much of one.
I can guarantee that it's not magic, though. A mix up with a time vortex, a beautiful blond British girl, and the good ol Doctor. I died then. She brought me back to life. But, time vortexes shouldn't be messed with, clearly, because now I can't die, and it hurts like a bitch to come back.
He was remembering that day. It was the pain of a Dalek laser, black, feeling like he was being pulled across shards of glass, and then he had been alone.
