Wyvern Riders
Upon coming upon the new world, the people feared the dangers it held. Without the Riders to guard over them, the people lost hope. But a select few discovered and tamed the great Wyverns, a cousin of the dragon.
These few men and women formed the "Guardians", an order dedicated to the protection of the weak and the destruction of evil, though it was meant to be temporary until the Dragon Riders time came. They were unwilling to stand down when it did.
They became powerful, and their ranks grew. Corruption started to spread through the ranks like a cancer. They wished to eliminate the riders of old, but because the people loved them still, the Wyvern riders decided to stand back and wait patiently for the right time to strike. But in the meantime during that wait, in an effort to remove any that would jeopardize their power, they started to target one creature they thought a immanent threat. The Draca.
The Wyvern riders used the peoples already existing fear of this race to start the great Hunt, and systematic extermination of their kind to a point of near extinction. Few Draca now remain in the world.
The Order continued to stir the hate in the common people for the Draca, calling them "twisted perversions of nature" and "a mockery to the gods". Great reward posters were hanged everywhere for those who would turn in a Draca.
But not all the people felt that way about them. Some even harbored some Draca, but if the poor souls were discovered, they suffered the same fate of those they harbored.
As of yet, the "secret war" between Wyvern riders, and Draca, has not yet come out of the shadows. The riders must be cautious, for when the "guardians" are done with the Draca, they're next on the list of threats.
