Author sat there looking at the cup and still had a dazed look on his face. But it was not from Kits spell. Moments before some interogaters injected a syrum into his arm that would break him down mentally, and painfully. It was classice procedure and ensured no lies would be said.
Author blinked his eyes as he came out of the drugs effect termperarily. "You will all die. Ni'pu will come for me. She is a powerful sorceress of the elder blood." he felt at the elven knecklace with the elves most beloved star. "you just wait and see"
Elder bloods. Now that was something very rarily uttered. Thankfully kit was well educated by her mother and father. Elder bloods were rare and few now. Said to be one of the first living elves. With that much age on her belt the so called sorceress must be powerful indeed with the knowledge of time.
A interogater came in that Kit would recogize. A nice guy but while on the job he was a tyrant. the man smacked the cup of water off the table and slammed both his hands onto it. "Where are the others!" Author just shook his head. "Where is the grail?" Author let out a grumbling laugh. "you know not of what you speak."
The interogater put his hands behind his back and turned away. "Dont I? Some say the holy grail is a magical goblet of the gods that cures all illness, brings peace to any nation that holds it. Grants the answer to life itself.
The man continued. "Some say it is a state of mind. Of obtaining understanding of oneself. That is if you like the philisophical story"
The man turned his head slightly over his shoulder to look at Author. "Some say that the translation of the elven word for grail was missinterpreted.....That the grail in elven really means. "holy blood...
Authors body posture changed a bit towards the uneasy side. The interogator turned around. "Your thoughts betray you. So it is true. The last living mortal from the bloodline of Luna herself". The guardians failed there vows to protect you
The interogater got one answer but pressed on the first. "Where are the secret holds your comrades operate out off"Author was resisting but beads of sweat rolled down his forehead as the drug started to take hold. The interogater patted Kits shoulder and took her to the ajacent room. "We must wait for the drug to break his mind. All we have to do is wait" Stay here and watch him. I'll be back.
He had other orders from the director. To test Kits loyalty to them. Leaving her alone with Author would decide.
Author started to breath heavily and said as he felt at the elven knecklace. "Ni'Pu. Help me. Slowly pink blossom leaves came out of nowhere to start swirling around Author as a powerful teleportation spell was being conjured.

Now, Kit didn't agree with the other's choices, but she wasn't going to let Arthur disappear. She wanted some answers herself. Mostly, why she was this supposed saviour when the corporation she worked for only seemed to hurt people now. Not that she wanted the pressure of saving the world on her shoulders, but she wanted answers. If he did, indeed, know Ni'pu, then she would gladly help him. No matter the consequences.
She slipped into the teleportation, barely able to stay in it with him. But she managed as, for reasons Arthur probably would not understand right away, she had been allowed to come. Obviously, if she hadn't been accepted to come, she wouldn't have been able to, even at full strength. Before he could run, she slipped a pill out of her pocket.
If you want your mind in tact, I suggest you take it. It's a detox pill. But if you can, I'd appreciate you lying for me and saying I didn't give it to you, if they manage to catch you again and ask. I doubt they'd give you a chance to speak though.
Knowing she'd regret it later, so formed some water in a cup with magic, and handed it to him to help get the pill down. She felt the pounding headache and the slight light-headedness that came from pushing her limits. Yeah, definitely a mistake.

When the vortex of pink flower petals slowed down enough that you could see Author was in a mystical elven forest. Calm, and Sarene. The origen of the pink petals now seen as petals fell from the top canopy of the elven forest to decend like rain.
Author started to stumble aroud in search of his rescuer being stopped by kit did not seem to bother him. "We are in forgotten forest. The hidden bastion from the changing world outside" He said while still looking confused.
Taking the pill and water from Kit he took the detox pill and sat down with his back against a tree watching the pink petals fall from dying flowers in the canopy. "Look how it dies" He said. "Only to be born again" Author held out a mailed hand and let some pink petals land on his palm. "You could search all your life for a perfect blossom..... and it would not be a wasted life"
With that he slept from the exhausting the day. So now kit was alone. Or was she. Strangly there was grass growing on the ground in the shape of feet. Ni'pu perhaps. It would only make sense she would bring him to her. But where in this enchanted forest was she? Only one way to find out. Author would be safe where he slept. The forest bore no ill against him. He had the blessing of the elves.
Kit would have to be more careful. The forest was old. Very old. And angry.

The forest was calm and held a ancient air. It was easy to imagine this being the first forest. The animals here were fearless. Mosty because they had no fear of man. No yet anyway. In the center of the forest was a large lake with floating lily pads with there buetiful pink flowers. In the center of the lake was a small island shrouded in mist. Walking on the waters surface without breaking it was a elven women. None truly knew her name except for Author. But any who heard the storys.
This elven maiden fit the discription of 'the lady of the lake'. A supposed goddess worshipped by peasents farmers mostly during times of drought. The 'lady of the lake' walked along sending out small ripples on the glassy water surface with every gentle step. Turning to Kit she smiled and put a pink lilly flower in her hair that was gold like a weat field and flowed like water. "Tell me, Do you believe in destiny?"
She continued to walk along the waters surface and added. "I once asked Author the same thing. He does not believe claiming that the weak only believe such things. My champion says strong mortals shape there own destinys. Basking in the glory of right choices, and taking shame in there mistakes."
Authors beliefs were respectable. To many believed in destiny just so they could blame it when they did something wrong instead of taking responsibility.
"The world changes rapidly. For good, and for bad. Man has all that he needs now and can take no more from the earth. The elves see mankind as a virus, a disease, a parasite that will destroy this planet. This hatred will grow and man will be extinguised.
She took a smooth green pebble from a pouch and dropped it into the water. "I have seen it in the stars, heard it wispered by the breeze, and have felt it in the earth'
A image of a human city appeared in the water. "What a strange creature is man that they would cage themselves so willingly......
She spoke indifferently of mankind. Not with hate, nor with love.
The breeze kicked up and the water rippled and the image vanished. "Tell me Kit, daughter of seth and Sairi. What is your destiny?"

Even though the image was gone, Kit still gazed into the water.
Sometimes I think nothing. Sometimes I think it might be something. But what is the point in knowing our destiny? Is it not better to just let it happen as it will, and trust that it will turn out for the best in the end?
She didn't look up at the elven lady as she spoke. Not out of disrespect or respect. She just... didn't. She could swear she saw something below the water, now that it had settled to be still again. She tipped her head to the side curiously as it glinted with the sun. Metal, then, or something of metallic color. She doubted anything else that reflected light, as it was all synthetic and man-made.

The lady of the lake said nothing to Kit about what she thought. It was as it was. As for what lied in the water. It would be known with time.
Author finally showed up having gotten enough rest. But despite he was in the forest home of his beloved and safe from harm. Author looked sad. The elven maiden walked over and Author emediatly knelt. "What saddens you my champion."
Author sighed. "I have lost the sword of my ancestors. Left behind at the place I was held. Now I expect I shant see it again"
The goddess put a hand under his chin and Author rised. "As it was ment to be" Authors face showed what he thought of that.
The water rippled and the silver object at he bottom of the lake rose to the surface. A ordinary looking sword. But it vibrated with devine power. She handed the blade to Author and said. "This sword has lied in the depths for ages waiting for you. With it you shall fufill your destiny. Yours will be a grim journy. I see pain, I see death, a long frosty chaos"
Author frowned. "M'lady You know I dont" The water of the lake rippled and the mist from the island in the center slowly spread out towards her as she started to back up. "Shh Author, it matters not if you believe in destiny. Journy south. There you will find a human city beset by the wrath of angry elves. With that she disapeared into the mist and most likely to the lake island that must be her home.
Author looked at the sword and ran a hand over its edge to quickly pull it away. "Wow, still sharp. Eh, I'm still missing two others but one is better then none. She must think me important...." He said no more and turned away to depart on his quest.
What Ni'pu said was a bad omen of things to come. But she said nothing to Kit of her perpose? Perhaps ignoring it all these years made the responsibility fall onto Author. His journy did not sound pleasent at all. If anything she made it sound as if death was the reward for its completion. But then again. Many of the old order guardians thought death before dishonor the greatest reward in life.

"Coming my lad'y?" Author asked Kit. "I could use thy company and wil drop you off at the nearest town no doubt you are eager to return to your masters..." He said to finally think. 'Government lap dog'
That night Author insisted that they keep moving. A quiet looking human village loomed in the distance and it was not long until Kit and Author came up on one of the 7 small alters that surrounded the village.
Author being a monster hunter of sorts was skilled in the knowledge of superstition. "Pagens, They burn herbs and grasses in this bowl and leave a candle lit all night to fend away bad spirits'
Looks like theres guardian work here for me. Now let me think. What creature would trouble a small village community. Zarfers? No, Unlikely that any cruel crimes were commited here." A dog howled in the distance and Author unsheathed the devine sword wich he had not named yet.
"Barghast....." That was there true names though kit would be familiar with the creatures through the name hell hound. Though not these types.
A village dog came walking bye and sniffed at the air in kits direction to wag its tail in a friendly manner. Author protested but with kit being her she saw no harm in a friendly dog. As soon as she got close the dog yelped and fell over dead. A green glowing mist came off its body and formed a demon looking dog with glowing red eyes. It howled into the night sky and jumped ready to seize Kit by the throat.
Author impaled the creature from under its jaw and through the top of its head. With a puff the beast was gone. "I told you lass. Head my words. I have faught monsters for years. Next time you could wind up dead" He pointed to the gun on her hip. "And be aware some creatures can only be killed by magic or magical endowed weapons'
More howls rose into the night and out of the woods came more hell hounds. Author simply smiled and spread his legs to move the tip of his blade lightly on the ground. "go inside and protect the villegers. "Ill stay out here
Not that it was really needed. Author dispatched of the beast quick and without a scratch. These must be low class monsters. The villag chief was overjoyed and said. "We are so grateful! It is not much since we are poor farmers, But here is a few coins. We dont use the federal doller out here" Paper mony. A growing custom in most civilized citys.
Author pushed the chiefs hands back to him. "No mony is required. The joy of helping is my reward" It was almost laughable. Though the village chief did not think so. "Bless you. I remember tales of guardian knights bearing golden armor and riding great wyverns. Where is yours master knight?"
Author pulled his golden royal wyvern out his hip pouch and she grumbled at the disturbance. As of late she had been sleeping alot. "My last was killed along with my brethren by soldiers. I took this little one from a nest I found. That did not please its mother much"
He put the wyvern pup back in her pouch and added. "She is in the growth spurt stage so I expect her to grow quickly soon.
The village chief looked to Kit. "And for you my dear. What reward would you ask of?"

Kit shook her head, refusing as Arthur had.
I don't need anything.
She did, however, notice the crops. It had been a bad season, apparently, as many of them were growing to slow, or had stopped growing entirely. Curious as to what had happened, she wandered over, poking at the weak stems and leaves. It wasn't hard to figure out what had happened. She'd heard of the NSA doing this, spreading a powder that would kill or slow plant growth. Only in uncooperative farming towns, who wouldn't switch to the government policies.
She knew she was already walking a thin line with her employed status, but she didn't care. She hadn't really believe that this had been happening, but it had to stop. It wasn't right, starving people, especially when most of the food would be used up before the end of winter. Oh, the government would feed them for free for the rest of the season, sure. But only if they allowed themselves to be governed and grow food for other cities, not just for other small towns who needed some help.
She couldn't do anything until morning, though, not with her magic depleted.
Would you have a place I can rest tonight, actually?
She knew they'd be low on food already, if all their crops were as bad as the few she had seen now.
I won't need any of your food, I promise.
Staying without eating anything would hardly be a big request, considering what her and Arthur had done, but she didn't really think about it that way. Her mind was already working in overtime, thinking about a way to help the crops, and in turn help the people. Dragon form would be best, she could spread the magic farther at a faster rate, she decided.
S=Knowing Arthur didn't like her, and would probably be suspicious, she glanced over his way and sent him a mind message.
And don;t think just because I'm government personnel that I'm planning something to harm them. I joined the NSA with no choice, and I try to help when I can. If you can't forgive me for being forced to hand over the monsters that terrorize and kill the unspecialized agents rather than find them a place away from people, then I can live with that. But let me help the crops and reverse what the rest of the NSA did.

Author waved a hand and smiled. Though really it was a wave of dismissal. "I will talk with the village elders while you do what you have to"
When she left he sat crossleged on a matt linked to a circle of old men. A fire in the circle. "So tell me wise ones. Have any elves come through." The second wisest nodded and stroked his milk white beard. "Ay, A large group came through not a month ago. Armed for war they were. They gave us no heed. As we are starving we were no threat in there eyes. though they did torture and kill one of our villagers for looking wrong at them. They buried him in the dirt up to the kneck. Covering his head in sweet hony red ants the size of your thumb came and covered his head....
Author held up a hand. "I can imagine the rest" Rubbing a thumb against the hilt of the sword his lover gave him Author asked. "What do you know of the city south?" the elders looked at eachother before one answered.
"The city has turned into a battlefield. The flower of elven youth whose minds have been twisted went there with there magic and swords to start killing indiscriminintly. The city dwellers with there guns and sciense fought back but at the moment they are losing. Blood fills the gutters. Devourers feast on the human and elven dead.
Author thought over this. The elves did not like that the old ways were disapearing before the age of sciense and refuse to use weapons. he would have thought with guns the city folk would have defeated them. Evidently no.
"How bad is the fighting between the humans and the invading elves?" An elder tossed some herbs into the fire making it spark up. "There is fighting on every street, in every building...."
Author did not like this. If he went there as Ni'pu instructed he would be caught between two fighting sides. If he knew anything from the study of war it was this. "If your not with them. your against them" Both sides would see him as the enemy unless he sided with there cause. Honestly Author was tempted to aid the human defenders against the genocidal elves. But he must make choices carefully. Sometimes things were not as they seemed.
He stood up and bowed to the elders. "Thank you wise ones. Peace upon you" As he left and an elder then bowed and wispered. And peace upon you, white wolf

Kit slept until the sun began to rise. She could never sleep longer, she was too used to waking up that early. She looked out the window to see the sun coming up, and flexed her fingers, allowing magic to spark between them. She smiled, pleased she had recovered so quickly. She quickly stripped off her uniform and let magic form around her to clothes she'd used to travel before she had even met Atakai. It was a simple, sky blue shirt and comfortable, jean-like pants that were black. She made a piece of string and tied her hair back in a ponytail. She left the lodging shortly after.
She immediately headed to some of the crops, were farmers were beginning their work. She nodded a hello to them, then changed. She scared some of them, though once she rose above, into the sky, and began spreading the magic that made the crops look better almost instantly. They soon forgot their worries of her burning them to the ground. She was done in a few hours, landed, and changed back, her clothes and hair tie reforming.

Author got up early in the morning and knelt on both knees to sit on his thighs and meditate. Guardians once did not bother with meditation but there alliance with the 'monster hunters' taught them that meditation was a good way to better ones mind and body. Not to mention just a good way to think.
Done thinking Author got up and started to put on his armor and looked to his royal wyvern that was the size of a dog now. "you have grown" He said with a smile. The still young golden wyvern went over and nudge the hip pouch with her snout. "Dont be daft. Your to big to be carried around anymore"
Wandering outside he saw kit and waved her over. "Well we depart to Tanor now. Have you contacted your masters yet?"
Just then Kits cell phone rang. it was atakai on the other end. "Finally I got a hold of you." Must have been interference. "I hope your having fun wherever you are. Meanwhile I have been on damage control and saved you from being put on the most wanted list"
Before he could say more the connection was lost.
Author did not wait up and started to leave to the city. It was easy enough to find. Smoke trailed up from behind the city walls of tanor. What was going on inside was left to speculation.
"Well we cant go in through the main gate. There if fighting on every street" Author looked around and saw a river that passed through the wall where a grate was. "Ah the sewers. Joy. Sneaking around is more for assasins and thieves. But I see no other choice. Come"
Author wadded into the shallow river water and grumbled how it stinked. Bashing the hilt of his sword on the gate lock the door creaked open as the lock broke.
"I cant see a damn thing in there" Author stated and took a torch off his hip. He held it up for Kit to light with her magic and the cloth soaked with fat at the torch end lit up. "Stay close and be mindful of 'drowners' and devowerers.
Slowly Author entered the blackness of the sewers. The darkness kept at bay only by the light. Traveling slowly the two of them came across a grate on the cieling that showed the surface. Some human rebels came running by and weapons fire could be heard. A thump echoed as a human body fell onto the grate and stared down at them lifelessly.
Walking further in they started to notice the sewer water was starting to look red. Blood no doubt running down from the street gutters. "Such bloodshed, and for what?" Author pondered.
"You must wonder what drowners are? They look like humans but there skin is blue with black fishlike eyes. There scavengers that grab there prey near bodys of water to drown them."
Water could be heard moving in the darkness ahead and Author frowned. "To common folklore drowners are said to be the cursed bodys of criminals who took there own wretched lives by drownding.
Devowerers are hard to describe. They are often found on battlefields and graveyards feeding on the dead. They grow bigger and stronger as they get older."
They came under another grate showing the streets above and some elves were standing over it and talking. "I want the blood of all these filthy humans to stain the streets. There guns are strong but they are weak beings. Not as fast or as strong as us. Come, we go to the hospital and finish off those that still live"
COWARDS!" Author yelled up and shook his fist as they looked down. "Come face me if you dare elf! Now he went ahead and did it. Author was only human and could not hope to defeat the elfs in a sword battle. Maybe he could if he had a gun. But guardians refused firearms.
The grate was blown off by magic and the elfs started to jump down. But not before some human rebels on the street above shot some down. Only two lived to enter the sewer. Author held the torch in one hand and his divine sword in the other.
"Come pointy eared devils" The water rippled and a drowner came out the water to grab both of the elves and dragged them under the water. "HA!" Author laughed. "never thought a drowner would be of use. Evil has destroyed evil."
Some human rebels appeared near the opening above. One lowered a ladder while another was kneeling and firing a FAMAS style assualt rifle. "Come on! We are falling back to the clinic!"
When Author climbed out and the rebels saw him they scoffed. A guardian?" The other with the assualt rifle saw kits red eyes and pointed his rifle at her. "None Human!"

A shield came up around her almost instantly as the rifle raised. She knew she couldn't afford to use compulsion on them.
I suggest you waste your bullets on those you can actually get to.
She muttered to them, leaving her shield up, but shrinking it to fit her body. She took the barrel with her hand and forced it down, blinking at him perfectly calm. She'd been in a worse situation.
So, Arthur, what is your plan exactly?

The man lowered his rifle and ran off with the others when one of them called out. They brought dragons!" They were not talking about kit of course. That was obvious enough when one looked into the smoke trailing sky.
Author ducked in the doorway of a ruined building and pondered Kits question. "I dont know. I was just told to come here. Really I guess I just hoped for a sign on what to do next after getting in. The home they were in was preoccuipied and a civilian none fighter looked down at Kit and Author from the second floor railing near a stairway. "Get out of here before you lead them to us!"
Author held up a finger and was about to protest before the scared man pointed a a pistol. "I said out!" Without warning there was a loud mechanical noise like a vehicle. Just outside the building Kit and Author were hiding in was a APC. the back ramp door opened and lowered to let out its cargo. Mercenarys using the gear and bearing the symnbol of Sairi' unit whom seth gave to her.
The mechanized infantry formed a defensive posture around the APC (Armored Personal Carrier) and shot down any elfs they saw with expert precision. With this small section of street clear of fighting now a civilian came out to demand who they were.
A mercenary captain pushed the man back gently to keep his distance. "PMC..." The civilian scoffed. "private military Contracters!? Bah! Mercs The Mercenary captain pointed the civilian back to his home. "We have been hired to provide protection and stop the fighting here. Return to your home. We are putting a curfew into effect"
It looked like the sign author hoped for has come though he would not recognize it. Being as the mercenary group was a family bussiness. Kit had authority should she desire.
The civilian man returned to his home quickly as some F-22 fighters owned by the mercs went flying by and dropped a carpet bomb on a nearby city block.
Author continued to look at the mercenary through the window and said to kit. "What queer people. They dont have the uniform patch of the imperial military. Who are they? Be they friends or foes?

Whichever you want them to be. They work for my mother, and as a result, they also work for me.
She replied, much more used to dealing with them than she would have been if she had taken any other job. She went around to go outside with them, keeping her shield up to keep herself safe.
Captain! How may I help? And, as a side note, how many of the ranks are here?

The captain was reading a map that he had layed out on a bent over privates back when Kit came out. "Well if it aint 'pretty kitty" herself. What are you doing here? Ah never mind."
"There is not much you can do to help. I have things pretty much under control. We braught everyone except for the reserves. The captain pointed to the open back door of the APC for her and Author to get in.
The driver of the vehicle did not notice there entry as his eyes were being kept very busing with a girly mag. He wistled and held the magazine over to the passanger side. "Hey bro check out the pair on her eh?" It was then he noticed kit and threw the magazine down by his feet out of sight. "Pretty kitty" He said her old mercenary nickname out of surprise.
All the other geared up mercenarys entered the APC and took seats with the rifles between there legs. The driver made the ramp door go up and started to drive.
