Elsewhere at Maelstrom prison out in the ocean the floating prison surrounded by a vortex of spinning storm winds and water there was a commotion among the CO's
"Is that inspector coming in today? Whats her name? Sairi?" The other corrections officer grunted. "yeah, somehow a leak got out about how the human prisoners are treated here. Escort her around. But make damn sure she does not look around to much in the human sector.
At the main entrance of the facility The Co met up with Sairi. "Welcome to Maelstrom Prison" He said to her. She was not even inside the prison yet and already you could hear the moans of the dying and could smell the death in the air.
"I'm afraid we cant show you to much. A quarantine is in effect because of a unknown viral outbreak in the human sectors

Sounds convenient.
She muttered, already planning in her head to come back--next time unexpected by them. She highly doubted there was some sort of sudden outbreak, considering no human had recently been sent here to bring new germs, but she would take precaution's side. For today.
------
Yeah, yeah. Well, if they didn't like you, they'd definitely kill you and leave no trace. We all know I'm a special case, not that I like to be reminded of it.
She replied, partially grumbling, before she followed him back up to the office, stuffing her hands in her pockets. Back to paperwork. Oh, the joys of life.... Not.

Valkrie started to show Sari the holding cells that were dark but with in ones rights. Next were the recreation facility for the one hour of personal time all inmates got. It was surprisingly decent. There was a demonstration of security then finally the Valkrie led Kits mother to the entrance. "Thank you for coming. I'm sure we met the national requirements for a prison yes?" Another valkrie wispered in her ear and she added. "I dont mean to be rude But I must leave and attend some things. I wish you a safe journy back home"
Brief. But there was a quarantine. In a large gathering of woods a guardian was sitting and playing with a wyvern pup. "Oy! No biting" He said sharply and smacked the little thing in the snout. "You could kill papa" Across from the guardian were three swords leaned against a tree. Why a guardian would need three swords was abvous enough for some. A Steel one for fighting humans, A silver for necrophages and other cursed creatures like the werewolf. And of the course the family sword that were forged from the ores of a fallen start to produce a magical blade. This guardians family blade was jade in color.
He stood up and patted a hand against his chestplate and guardian golden wyvern symbol. "See this little one. You will grow up to be this." He picked up the golden royal wyvern pup and added. "Many a song is sung about the heroics of Guardian Knights and there royal wyverns. One day songs will be sung about us"
The royal wyvern did not seem to care and yawned to fall asleep in its young ambitious riders arms. Royal Wyverns were different from there regular and draca hybrid kin. They were always gold. Much larger then the average wyvern and significantly more intelligent. Some nerinian legends spoke of how the royal wyverns once actually hunted dragons as prey.
Sadly there kind was almost extinct. Just how this human got ahold of one was a mystery. The guardian noticed Sairi but did not pay much atttention to her. Wild dragons were common now adays and as long as she was not a man eater or causing trouble with the locals. She did not concern him.
Landing though he got a bit worried. Putting down the young royal wyvern he was training the man stuck out his chest and banged a mailed hand against this chest plate. "Greetings dragon. Be you here to eat me like the others have tried? Why must everyone hate us gaurdians. The sins of our fathers are not mine"
Sairi must have been surprised. Guardians like the royal wyvern. Were rare indeed. The young knight grabbed a sword from the tree and pulled it out the sheath. "AH HA! I will not give up so easily. Enguard man eater!" He stared at the steel sword and tossed it aside to grab another sword. Unsheathing the jade green blade the guardian gave a small laugh. "okey. Lets try this again" he pointed the sword at Sairi.
The guardian was on the defensive and had no intention of striking unless struck at first.

Sairi stopped and tipped her head to the side, curiously looking at the par first. Then, a soft, rumbling laughter could be heard coming from her chest.
I have no qualms with guardians, nor with wyverns, young one. That would be the draca. Nor would I eat you. I have had two riders in my time. Mind, neither of them were human, but that is not the point, as they could have been.
Her eyes were sad as she spoke of riders. In part, because she still remembered that dreadful time when she was still learning that Mai had sacrificed herself for Khamar. But, for the most part, it was due to her loss of Seth, for he had been much more than just her rider.
I do suggest you take great care of that wyvern though. It will be quite special, I'm sure, when it grows up.

The guardian smiled and put the jade green blade away. "Jolly good." Putting it back against the tree with the others he bowed curtiously as if a noblemen. "A pleasure, my name is Author Pendragon"
He went over to the pack on the ground and put the sleeping wyvern pup in. "You come at the most opportune time. I have been on a quest to rid this area of evil. First I killed a shade in the swamps that was experimenting on people, then a few hellhounds that were killing farmers. A vampire here, a necromancer there" This guardian was young but not to be under estimated if he took out all those things by himself.
He slung the satchel pack over his shoulder and started to put his three sword on in the appropriate places. The Steel and Silver in a X formation on his back and the family sword on the hip for easy access.
"Dont even get me started on the dragon that was stole away a noblemens virgin daughters. Ha! It ate me whole and I had to cut my way out of its chest" He made a few dramatic slashed with his green magical blade.
"Tooth against sword! Claw against shield!" he retold the tale as he fainted as if fighting a imaginary dragon. "the great black beast with devils eyes even tryed to take me out with a swing of its tale that would have made the earth tremble!" he jumped up in the air as if dodging a tail swing.
The young knight that was the fitting example of the noble guardians from legend when they were uncurropted. Author put his green blade away and started to walk. "But my quest is over and must find a hold. My old hold was raided by imperial death squads" For the first time the cheery youths voice sounded sad. "I alone am the survivor of the western hold"
Author was a good hearted man and quickly cheered up. "no matter. There are 3 more and I doubt even the tyrant dragon king will find them" Sairis brother in law Vinnie was many things but not a tyrant. Hunting down guardians was believable. He long hated them.
Author asked Sairi as she followed along curiously. "Be you the mount of a monster hunter? No? Oh. Well they tame the wild dragons unlike us guardians who just tame wyverns. No matter. The imperial military hunts us both down no differently" He held up a mailed hand. "But there is one big difference between us. The monster hunters charge people for there services. We guardians do it for free"
"What are you going do now noble dragon?" he asked. The guardian stopped dead in his tracks and looked over his shoulder. "Bloody hell I forgot my shield" He turned around to start jogging back to the tree with clinkingo his armor and grumbling. "the orde master would wip me good if he were alive to see this. A Guardian forgetting his shield! Bah! Almost as bad as forgetting ones family blade"
Sure enough the shield was leaning against the tree and like his chest plate armor bore the golden Wyvern symbol on it. Picking it up Author noticed a imperial army scout. Falling to a knee Author hid behind his shield as the scout opened fire on him with his assualt rifle. The guardians may have refused the use of technology. But there metal armors were unmatched and forged by the dwarves.
Author ignored the banging of rounds against his shield and stood up to draw the jade blade from his hip. Sure the steel sword would have been better. But for what Author planned the magical jade blade would be best.
Moving forward through the hail of rounds Author lowered the shield when the scout started to reload and cut the assualt rifle in half with his family sword. The soldier dropped the useless half in his hand and turned tail to flee.
Grunting Author examined his shield and brushed a mailed hand over it. "Best be going" he said to the wyvern pup when it stuck its head out the satchel on his hip.

Sairi watched quite curiously. Unlike the draca cousins, she lived a long life. And, though all the rest of it would be spent mourning Seth, she was using this longevity natural born into a dragon to do what she could.
Well fought. There was no need to kill, and so you didn't. You would probably get along well with my daughter. She prefers to chase enemies away than to kill them as well.
Sairi replied, her voice rumbling with evident pride at the mention of Kit. What mother wasn't proud of their children? And, from what she still knew, Rothgar was dead. She still refused to consider Nox her son--He was simply reborn through her. To her, he was a brother. But, he was in Alagaesia now, doing Luna knew what with Skylar.
Tell me, these holds... Are they as corrupt as some of the guardians have been known to be? I know many still follow the ideas of the Indigo Wolves, which is unfortunate. Don't let your mind be taken over by these ideas of warring where simple conferencing will do. There is a time for war, yes, but it is not always the proper solution. Sometimes it causes a bit of a chain reaction.
She thought back to the fights she had done when she was younger, but with Mai and with Seth. She actually found herself missing the flying, the adrenaline rushes. She sighed softly.
I was born after the Guardian-Draca wars, but I've still know the bloodshed of war. The beginnings of disobedience among the guardian ranks, the Amazons, the War of Gods with all those demons... It all still plays on in my head, leaves me missing my first rider, Mai, and good Seth, husband and rider. But, I've been left to be a diplomat, I suppose. No one needs a riderless dragon anymore, not unless they're draca and can change.

Author listened to kit and said. "Currupt? Fark no". Only groups that grow to big do that. At least what my history teacher taught us. Besides. The government keeps us on the run so much no time for plotting"
"So your a diplomat? The gods fortune me today. Come! We could use you. Before my hold was attacked there were talks of joining forces with the monster hunters" Well there was nothing else to do. Traveling with this Author would be intresting enough. And it would probably take her mind off of seth.
Author pulled out a map and looked for a nearby safehouse. "We need to get in cover. Imperial helicopters will be patrolling at nght and I dont want to get caught in the open and torn to pieces by there hellfire missiles and chaingun.
Ah, theres a small town here. If a remember correctly imperial influance is almost noexistent there and the locals are guardian and monster hunter sympathizers. We shall inquire of a inn yes?"
The city was surrounded by a wall and still remained the way it was decades ago. The gate guards saw him coming and quickly waved him over. "Greetings white wolf" he said. It seemed Author had some fame.
"You need a place to stay? That will not be a problem. The inn will provide you free lodging. It is the least we can do for saving the noblemens daughters Author pointed a gloved hand to Sairi. "What about her" The guard examined Sairi and added. "Well the monster hunters come through every now and then. Perhaps there is a barn open big enough to hold the beast
Letting Him in Author told Sairi to find the inn with a large barn and wait for him there. It must have been refreshing to Sairi to see not all of Alelea was assimilated into the modern age.
Author spent his time getting free drinks from patrons and told storys of his adventures. After hearing about hell hounds appearing inside the city walls late at night at killing at random He stumbled over to the barn with Sairi in it with a barrel of mead under both arms.
"Drink up fair beast" He said and dropped the barrels before her. "I never met a dragon that did not like a good drink. Even my encounter with the elder worm of the smoky mountain loved it He started to think. "that and gold" Author lied down in the hay and loosed his boot strings and armor straps a bit. "We best be careful. Hellhounds have been tormenting the local people late at night.
How he intended to fight drunk was a mystery. But if asked he probably had a story of a account when he did. Author was quite full of storys. It made one wonder how many of them were true if at all any.
The wyvern pup was not far from him and looked at a barn mouse with intrested eyes. "Aye, go get er girl. Good training" With that he was fast asleep. His three swords at his side and using the shield as a brace to support his head and kneck.

Fortunatly nothing happened that night. Eithe because the beasts were off elswhere. Or they feared to come out with Author there.
The guardian got up in the morning and stretched his tight muscles. "Tis a buetiful day" He said but stopped in his tracks and felt around at his kneck. "My kneckless! I will not leave until I find it!" He stated and began to toss up hay where he had slept.
"No,No,No!" He stuttered as he failed to find it. Turning around Author saw Sairi holding the chained kneckless from her teeth. "Ah bless you" He said and took the jewlrey that was elven in make with a charm of there blessed star. Perhaps from a lover? For his sake hopefully not. There existed many a love tale of men and elves. Always they ended badly.
Author put the chain around his kneck and started to prepare. "You coming or leaving dragon?" He asked Sairi.

I do believe I'll come, if only for now. I must return with my report on Maelstrom. They're hiding something, I'm sure, but as of yet...There's always a reason for the human sector to be closed to viewing, when they know someone's coming to check them out.
She replied, her voice quite dry and bored once it turned topic to the prison report. Noticing the draca wandering off, she stretched her neck out and gently nudged the pup back toward Arthur, quite motherly in attitude. It would make sense. She had mentioned her daughter.
But, the report can wait. It's only paperwork anyway, and the filers are backed up enough that they'll never notice. Lead on, young guardian.

Author frowned at the mention of the prison and put the wyvern pup in his hip satchel. "A dark place indeed. Many a captured brother from the order has gone in there. Never have they come out.
He would not comment anymore on that dark topic and picked up his shield. "Alright then, To the next town." No sooner had he gone outside when he was greeted by a helicopter hovering over him with the door gunner aiming the machine gun at him. "You are surrounded. Drop your weapons and lie down face first on the ground" Someone had tipped off the government that he was here.
As if to prove the fact he was surrounded Black SUV's with NSA in white letters on the side came screetching in. Uniformed agents came out the vehicles and took cover behind the doors to point there weapons that varied from pistol to assualt rifle.
"Dont move! Federal agents!" One yelled. Author looked all around and sighed. "the price of freedom is steep" Author took the silver blade from his back and bit down on the hilt to hold it there. Slowly he took the Steel and magical jade blade in his hands. Author apparently was a trinity blade master. Wierd being as only a handful of elven blade masters knew that deadly sword style.
He was ready to fight to to the death hand go out in a blaze of glory. How typical of guardians. Atakai was behind the drivers door of the black SUV putting on his vest that said NSA. Standing up and using the door for cover he pointed a MP5 at Author. "On the ground! Were giving you to the count of 5!"
Weapons started cocking to reforce the intention of the shoot to kill threat. "Aim for the head men" Atakai told the other agents. "Guardian armor is magical and impervious to bullets"

Unfortunately for the otehr agents...Kit was also there. Her eyes widened for a second, before she went dashing out, ignoring the fact that co-workers were yelling at her.
Mom? What are you doing here?
Sairi nudged her lightly with her nose, smiling.
Kit, it has been too long since I saw you. You never even visit.
Life's...busy. Just when i get a break, something else pops up. That's all.
Kit was much too used to guns, apparently. She was having an entirely normal conversation while in the middle of a circle made up of them. The otehr agents continued to yell. She spun around to glare at them.
Oh, just shut up!You don't need to repeat 'get out of the way' a hundred times! Once will do! I'm not deaf!
Of course, she could also stop the bullet with a magic shield covering her body anyway. She honestly didn't think they should worry so much. Most of them knew of her special talents in magic anyway.
It's no wonder they kill so many guardians...Any sane person with these many guns pointed at them would probably go crazy and fight back...
She grumbled, turning to look at Arthur. Her head tipped to the side as she focused on a gift she had been practising with recently. Something called compulsion--THe ability to convince one to do something they didn't actually want to do. One of her hands was held up to tell the gunners to wait. Atakai would no doubt yell at her later, though. Or the director. Or maybe even both.
Drop the swords, please. I won't hurt you. They might, but I won't. I promise. Just put the weapons down...
She could feel the heavy lull setting over her mind as well. Her vision blurred for a minute, then began flickering between clear and unclear. She slowly held her right hand out toward him, feeling as if she was moving too slow, almost like she was moving through water. The air around the two would be shimmering, though Kit never noticed, nor did anyone she had practised on.
Put the swords down and take my hand.

Atakai yelled at Kit to move out the way but grumbled and waved his hands to the others to lower there weapons. If he knew kit as well as he did. And he did. She was planning to do something. She was not that much of a winger.
Author hesitated but Kits magical charm of persuasion cuased him to slowly sheath his blades and take her hand. Of course with that open chance some agents came out to tackle Author and cuffed his hands behind his back to force him up and shove the guardian into the back of the black SUV.
Atakai shouldered his MP5 and shook his head. "God kit do you know how much trouble you have put me in. Its going to take all of my connections and influance not to get you arrested as well for what you just did." Atakai held up a finger to answer his cellphone. "yes the intel was correct. We got him. Oh so now you tell me you want the kid alive. Before you said either way. What? Him? The holy grail?" Atakai closed the cell phone and patted the top of the SUV and said to the driver. "take him to interogation at HQ. Kit and I will grab another vehicle"
Atakai got into the drivers side of the federal vehicle and waited for Kit to finish talking to her mother before they left. When Kit did get in Atakai took off to follow the convoy of black SUVs on the dirt road. He turned on the Federal radio and listened to random chatter among all the agents.
Speaking to Kit without taking his eyes off the road Atakai asked. "So, what do you think of the guy? Ha. Those guardians are nutjobs running around with armor and swords. They need to get with times.

I may carry a gun, Atakai, like the rest of you, but, if you haven't noticed, I live of magic, just as they do.
She replied, looking out of the window rather than at him.
He did seem different, though. I mean, lots of guardians are a little insane. Him... He just wanted to be free.
She continued, beginning to realize how much energy she'd actually used with this compulsion. It was a good thing she'd decided to put an actual uniform today, rather than simulate one with magic. She doubted she could even keep up something so basic, so simple she could usually keep it going while she slept.
Wake me up when we get back, kay?
She muttered, eyelids drooping shut and sending her into sleep before she could even hear a response.

The drive to capital was uneventful until they reached the outskirts. The small town the surrounded the capital mostly housing the lower class. The lead truck said over the radio no sooner had they entered th town. "I got a road block here. I'm taking it right"
Black clouds of smoke could be seen rising all over the city into the sky. "Whats the smoke for?" A voice asked over the readio. Atakai keyed the mike and answered as the convoy went left. "Signals to the Tai 'o, thal that were coming. Stay sharp"
In the narrow city streets surrounded by building on both sides provided the pefect ambush. A human rebel on the top of a roof fired an RPG and blew the first truck on its side. The same happened for the last truck effectivly trapping the others in the middle of the convoy.
"AMBUSH!" Atakai yelled over the radio and got out to start firing his weapon at some rebels in saw in building windows. The shots were accurate and with a few yellows some bodys went falling out to the ground.
Atakai kept firing and turned the radio to the air support freq. "Guardian angel this is red 12 we are ambushed in the outskirts and heavily outnumbered!"
No sooner had kit got out when another truck was blown up by a RPG round and a tire went flying by narrowly missing her head. The attack helicopter arrived quickly and blasted its minigun and hellfire rockets taking out several buildings. The rebels that were not dead fled.
"Push the wrecked trucks out the way and gather the dead!" Atakai yelled as he got back in the drivers seat. It took a few minutes but the convoy was moving again. "damn Tai 'o, thal. Atakai grumbled as he made a turn with the convoy and heard a round ping off there truck. The stupid humans think that Your uncles being king means that the mythical, and magical creatures of the land will rule and destroy mankind one day
He made another turn to add. "Humans are like coakeroaches. Once you kill one another just appears" Everyone knew Atakai did not hate humans. He was just talking out of anger right now at being shot at. Understandable. When they got to the NSA building garage Atakai said to Kit. "Go to interogation and learn what you can from the guardian. I have to go fill out paperwork for the mission.

Kit nodded, silent. She was pretty much recovered from the compulsion, but she wouldn't be using any magic until tomorrow just to be on the safe side. No point killing herself trying. She set off through the winding halls of the NSA building, before heading down a flight of stairs, turning right and entering the viewing room attached to the interrogation room first. The guardian was looking rather confused. The compulsion must have just worn off recently. It tended to linger like that.
She grabbed two cups of water from the water dispenser in the corner. Carefully balancing them, she slipped out the door, went over to the next one down the hall, and slipped back in. She held the water just out of his reach at first.
Now, if you're going to throw this at me, I'm not going to give it to you and waste water. Albeit, it's not much water anyway, but nonetheless.
She waited for a few moments to make sure he got the idea, then placed it down and sat.
I can imagine you're mad at me. But it was convince you to not fight or watch you die. I've got some influence, so at least this way you might get out again. It'll cost me, though. So, if you know of any guardians that don't follow the traditional idea of helping the people, you'd better tell me now. I may not have a good word to put in otherwise. I'm talking about the ones who would betray you in a heartbeat, so there's no real point in feeling bad about giving them up.
