Kit got up, her body still shaking with pain as it continued to solidly piece itself together. It would take awhile for her to heal fully, at least a couple hours, and right now she basically looked like a patchwork doll, minus the stitches. Ignoring the rest of the crew, and knowing they could deal with the destruction, she teleported away, letting her consciousness locate Mahari. He was indeed in a sector 6 lab. She placed a hand on the shoulder of the work-distracted scientist.
Come. No more weapons. Sector 6 can go to hell for all I care. As the last living member of the royal family, I'll make sure they don't get you again. Once these wounds heal, anyway.
She offered a smile, and led him away. Sector 6 wasn't going to be successful anytime soon, seeing as how she was, indeed, immortal. She felt the stares and smiled, almost laughed, as they tried to stop her, kill her. They got nowhere close, and she didn't even need to glance in their direction to stop them.
What would you like to do Mahari? Anything can be yours.
Maybe he would finally recognize her now. That had been the one thing she had always said to him, and to any of them. When the other females weren't around she had encouraged the young males to try to reach whatever dreams they had, whether they were realistic for the society or not.

When Kit took him away he was rather quiet until he finally spoke. "I remember you. You were always so kind to me. Even if I was a lost cause and a clutz. Being bred a warrior is one thing. The valkries nearsightedness did not let them forsee that the opposite mental thought would be an adverse effect" Pretty much he just said he was mentally not cut out for it.
"The books you use to sneak for me were inspiring. When you left we got a new teacher. When I reached the adolecent growth stage we were examined. Poked and prodded... I passed but failed the mental examination" He was to smart.Mahari was starting to get clutzy again around Kit. He had a puppy crush on her when he was a kid. It still was around now. Mahari just did not see it yet. He was a man of sciense and rational thought.
mahari examined the stitches on Kits body. "How horrible. If I can get my own lab somewhere I can finish my stem cell reasearch. Unsightly scars wont be a problem anymore. I will grow you a new one.

Oh, don't worry about these. Scars are a result of skin that doesn't heal as well, or isn't able to heal perfectly. I... kind of absorbed a time vortex, to save the world. I'm immortal, everything heals perfectly. It'll just take a while.
She smiled over at him, appreciating the offer to help. She caught a glance of her golden eyes in a mirror, and stopped for a second. She hadn't realized her eyes were no longer the bright crimson of the draca. She didn't mind, though. She'd never really liked her red eyes.
Once they got outside the building, she glanced up at the clear blue sky. So perfect considering the disasters the day had faced. She glanced over at Mahari.
What do you say we fly?

Mahari reached in a deep side pocket of his white lab coat and played around with a coin with figity fingers. "I really dont think that is wise. I will be a wanted man now. Nothing less conspicuwas then a flying draca" He perked up a bit as a thought dawned on him. "What I would like to do is get the chance to examine your body." It was just then that he realized that could be taken the wrong way. "On the proffesional level of course" He already was going over theorys in his head of what would happen when living tissue came into contact with a time vortex.
Being the brilliant mind he was examining Kit would tell him nothing more then what he already suspected. Seeing Kit take off with her new set of wings he grumbled and changed to follow suit.
When they broke camp for the night Mahari lied down near the fire and drew in the dirt with a claw. Nothing Kit would really understand. Just equations, formulas. some genetic coding and other scientific babble.
Talking to himself Mahari scratched under his snout. "No that is not feasable such contact with a time vortex would cause the same effect as dark matter. Cellular breakdown very possible to the atomic level.... Perhaps a sythetic crystalin prison with all the trapped energy. Bah! I need a lab! Not dirt!"

Mahari slammed his tail on the ground in frustation. His head darted though when a twig snapped. Cocking his head nervously he relaxed upon seeing just a deer passing by.
He was quite the jumpy one.

Relax, Mahari. Get some sleep. They won't get you while I'm around. And I've got a shield over our campsite. Nothing's getting in.
She replied, feeling the urge to close her eyes and sleep, but not feeling tired.
Well, would you look at that? I'm stuck awake just like Jack. Never thought that would happen.
She mused to herself, a smile creasing her lips as she thought about it, as well as various other things this meant. Some worse than others, but she chose to ignore those for now.

Mahari settled down and took her advice to sleep. It did not surprise him in the morning to see she was the first awake. If she got any sleep at all.
As they continued on Mahari asked. "Where exactly are you taking me anyway?"

The safehouse. Not even sector 6 ever knew it existed. It's in a publicly uncharted area that I found when I travelled years ago. I formed it during one of my vacations while working with the NSA. I didn't tell anyone, not even the rest of my family, about it it, because at the time, they didn't need it. We'll have to travel through the Dragon Caves, underground, though. No outsider can track through them well enough to be able to figure out where we went, and the dragons will cover up our trail if we ask nicely.
She replied, taking a bucket of water and dumping it over the small fire they had had going, then used her magic to move it all into a bag, which she promptly hung high and hidden in the branches of a pine tree.
And, yes, there's a lab. Maybe not as well equipped as your old one, but we can fix that if we have to.

Mahari bobbed his head in thought. "As long as I have somewhere to work... True to Kits word her extended family agreed to cover there tracks.
The bunker style building was dusty from ill use but after a brief inspection by Mahari he seemed pleased. Especially at the lab. Seeing as the bunker was set up by her mother when there mercenarys needed a HQ. The place was off the grid of imperial eyes.
"It is lacking in some aspects. But more then I had hoped for" He wasted little time in rearranging everything the way he prefered it. Mahari went over to a old computer and wiped off the screen with the sleeve of his labcoat and turned it on.
Mahari pulled out a data stick and stuck it in the computer to open it up. "I managed to steal some top secret information before your father died. He told me he did not trust his own people. It seemed it was true. I have no names yet but the government is now in control by four men codenamed the wisemans commitee. Each member is made up with one of a different race. Here is a old video feed from one of there meetings.
Three men in suits sat around a circular table in a dimly lit room A human, A elf, and a nerinian. The large doors leading to the room burst open and low and behold good old atakai came barging in and looking especially pissed.
"How could you do this! Nobody was suppose to die!" Atakai yelled at his fellow members. The nerinian waved a hand. "settle down Atakai. You were not present at the voting" Atakai slammed his hands onto the table. "You should have waited!"
He turned away and looked at the ground. "I did not want any of this" The video ended. So Atakai was with the group that had taken away everything she loved. Well, at least he was speaking in her favor. Though he was just to ill sighted to see his opinion held no weight.
Mahari braught up something new on the screen. But it was nothing but numbers. "This I believe is a list of the locations they meet. Its heavily encrypted so it will take awhile for me to break. In the meantime I will try to hack into the DOD (department of defence) for clues
It was not even a couple of seconds before Mahari smiled. "It was wired like a cristmas tree but I'm in. This system is behind the curve of my intellect. What do you want to know? I have access to everything"
The screen went blank and then a hand came up to give Kit and him the finger. Mahari stood up and started swearing rather colorfully in his native tounge before finally reverting to english. "Those cocky little. They booted me off"
He started typing again and mumbled. "cheeky little bastards. I have something for your ass" He did not say what he did but Mahari turned off the computer looking rather pleased with himself.
"So what will you do now? Your not really going to leave me here alone are you?" He sounded a little paranoid that they would find him. That and he just wanted to enjoy her company more. With all the time he spends in reasearch and lab work he rarely found time to enjoy the company of others. "I could use your help here. You could be my assistant"
Kit may have lost famiy and friends. But was bound to make new ones over time.
Several days later--
In the peaceful mountain village of Tanor a couple of miles away from the bunker a young human was sitting on the roof of his home admiring the northern lights that colored the night sky. Light reflected from the tundras.
A snowball came out of nowhere and hit the man in the face soon followed the laughter of children. Kumar rubbed the melting snow off his face and threw one back at the children. "You on guard tonight Kumar!" one of the village children called up to him.
Kumar stood up on the roof next to a bell on a stand. "Dont worry. This is not the season for them to be hunting. The children followed his gaze to the northern lights. "The spirit trail. It looks so pretty tonight. Is it a good omen?" a boy asked the village guardian.
Kumar replied. "of course. Our ancestors are watching over us. Its getting late. You should go to bed" As the children turned around to leave Kumar said. "And dont forget to pray...." There was a pause as the children nelt below and Kumar knelt on the roof. "What do you do when your awake?" He said. "Keep both eyes on the sky"
"What do you do when you sleep?" the children replied. "keep one eye on the sky"
"What do you do when they come?" The children replied. "Run hard, Run fast, and never look back" With that the children left. The village looked peaceful but there was a deep fear passed from one generation to another.
The night continued to go uneventfully until there was a faint light in the distance. Kumar stood up and looked hard in disbelief. The watch tower flame had been lit. He reached over to start ringing the alarm bell. "To arms! To arms! DRAGONS!"
Kumar grabbed his fathers bolt action hunting rifle that leaned against the chimney and raised it to late as one of the winged reptiles came in to strafe the village with fire quickly setting building on fire.
He followed the fast creature with the weapon and fired only to miss. He cursed under his breath and cocked it again to take aim. Other rifle fire could be heard elsewhere as the other village guardians came to repel the predators. None would last the night.
The village was a supply spot of sorts for the bunker. The people were friendly and always willing to trade. Nothing really remained of the village though as Kit came that day for food and supplys. The air smelled of ash and death. Not that she needed a keen nose for that. It was clearly evident from the burned houses and bodys, some not even whole, scattered about in the red colored snow.
Already crows were pecking away at the remains. Wretched scavangers. They cawed loudly at Kits intrustion on there meal and took flight. From among the bodys a weak hand raised. Kumar was under one of the village guardians. His white fox skin coat stained red from blood and grey from ash.
"Water" He said weakly and and tryed to push his dead brother from atop him. He was a bit delirious from dehydration wich happened quite easily during the winter without you knowing it. "It took them. It took the others to its wretched lair near the top of the mountain. I must help my kin
Technically the others were not blood relatives but his people did not see things by blood. Family extended out to all beings. If they flyed in the air, walked on the land, or swam in the rivers. One of the reasons many saw them as primitive. Because they prayed for the spirit of the animals and creatures they killed for food.

Kit pushed the body off him, picking him up and resting him in a sitting position. She took out the water bottle she always brought and held it to his lips, tipping it slightly to give him a little water at a time.
Don't gulp. It'll make you worse if you drink too much too fast.
She told him as his hands wrapped around the bottle. She still balanced it, but looked around to make sure there was no more danger around.
You rest. I'll save them. Just point me in the right direction, alright Kumar?
She knew almost all the villagers by name, and this was a devastating blow. As she waited for a reply, she sent out a message to Mahari.
Mahari, I'll be late getting back. Tanor has been attacked, and some of the villagers taken by a dragon. I'm going to save them, if I can, but it might take awhile. If something happens, activate the lockdown procedure to keep yourself safe in the basement and keep an earpiece with you. I have mine in my pocket, and I'll put it on once I leave the village.
[/i] That had been the one thing she'd requested of him. Earpieces were useful, allowing talk between people over larger distances than mental talk. She'd been working on the basement and security while they'd been there, too. The basement had no way in except one door, which she had fortified with magic and technology, visiting Jack once to learn how to put up a shield that kept anyone from getting out or in as well. It was impossible to get into, although it could be stalemated as a castle could, unfortunately. But she was working on that. [/center]

Kumar pointed a weak hand upwards towards the peak of the mountain. "I'll help to" he said weakly as she left. "i just need to rest"
Kumar started to climb the mountain much later after Kit and by accident came across a small tunnel he had to crawl through. He was using the backdoor of the reptiles lair. He just did not know how lucky he was to find it.
He came out of the tunnel on a ledge high up on the cavern. Kumar got his bolt action rifle covered in tattered white cloth ready to fire. It would do nothing to hurt the creature with his armor. But if it opened up its mouth.... that was the easiest way to get a bullet into the brain. Right through the palet.

Kit was lying against the wall, have been tossed and her neck broken moments before. She opened her eyes and groaned.
That hurt, damn it.
She muttered, and she straightened her neck, the bone snapping back into place and healing almost instantly. The dragon had already begun prowling back toward the villagers, thinking Kit as dead as she had been.
Not so fast you lumbering menace.
She grumbled to herself, sending out vines of silver and gold magic which solidified into chains. She spotted Kumar and smiled, sending a chain for the bottom jaw and the top jaw, the magic easily snaking its way through the snarling teeth. With short, quick jerks of both hands, the chains ripped the dragon's mouth open.
Fire quick, before the chains break.

Kumar watched as his prey was made vulnurable. There was a momentary pause as he took the time to pray for the spirit of the creature he was about to kill as was the custom of his people.
Finally ending the prayer he took aim and fired through the reptiles upper palet just as the chain broke. It fell onto his belly and twitched for a moment before finally going still.
Kumar climbed down from the ledge to the cavern floor where thankfully most of the tribe was. From the looks of the survivors only a quarter of the ameshi people were actually killed in the attack.
One of the villagers supported Kumar as they started to head back down. "What will we do now?" A child asked Kumar. "They will come and burn. We as we have always done shall rebuild"

It only took a couple of days but the people rebuilt there village and life returned to normal. Mahari over the course of time had finished his reasearch on stem cells and had set his sights onto creating and harnasing a artificial time vortex. Naturally Kit had told him it was a waste of time but that only made the young draca scientist only more determined.
When Kit got back from wherever she went. He never really asked. He waved at her excitedly as she entered the lab. "Ive done it!" Mahari stated. He was wearing a strange helmet and pack. From the pack trailed wired to a keyboard that was strapped neatly to his left forearm.
"Look at the clock...' He said with a grin and typed at the keyboard with the other hand. "Time Paradox initiated" A computer voice stated from the helmet. It seemed like he only just had done it and the computer said. "Time paradox ended" By looking at the clock though Kit would see that 7 minutes had passed without her knowing. Mahari had created a device that could stop time for all except him.
He took off the device and put it in a locker. "I told you I could do it" He said with a grin. It can freeze time for only up to seven minutes. It could go longer but then I would l slowly lose my grip on reality. And that reprecussions for that I cannot even begin to contemplate
"Now all I need is to find a application so I could use it on terminally ill patients. Stop time.... to dangerous. Hybernation time freeze. Aha!" I got it"
I will create a type of anti freeze for the blood so a terminally ill patient can be put on ice without fear of tissue damage from the cold. That should give people a fighting chance of surviving long enough to reach the operating table.
He had discovered other things today but he was not really in the mood to say. Up on one of the lab screens was his genetic and chromsome coding. Kit would have worked with him long enough to learn about chromosomes. Especially the draca male Y chromosome.
It was no secret of the reason why the draca race was dying out. The males lacked nessesar proteins in there chromosme to produce male offspring hence why one boy was born once in every few births. Mahari's chromsome pairs had mutated and in a good way. A new missing link. The key to restoring the balance of the sexes in his race. He just had to live long enough to contribute to the gene pool.
Mahari sat at a table and started to work on the anti freeze formula he had in his head. he was totally oblivious to his less intelligent partner looking at the screen with his medical information. When he did notice it was to late to do anything about.
"HEY!" he said loudly and stood up quckly only to trip and decided to stay on the floor. "I discovered that today when I was experimenting on myself" It was unorthodox. But mahari was not the kind of person to experiment on anyone. Not unless he knew it was safe. hense why himself.
"Your not going to turn me over to them are you?" As them he refered to the Valkries. "I doubt they would want my blood to reenter the gene pool. It would restore balance and jeapordize there power. If anything they would keep me drugged and.... study me for a long time" He was showing his nervouse habit again and stood up to start tapping a pen on the table.

No, of course I'm not giving you back to them. They wouldn't keep you drugged, not unless they've changed. The ones without as much power wouldn't mind, but those at the top... Oh, they most certainly would. They'd kill you.
She replied, re focusing on the time vortex work. She didn't entirely understand it, but she did understand what would happen if something went wrong.
Be careful with that time stuff, though. Figure something out before it's time, you change the future too drastically nd create a paradox. Paradoxes are bad. Could destroy Alalea long before Sector 6's fight for control does.
