The director pulled out a pack of smokes and lit one. "Oh I doubt that very much...." He said in reference to Kit hurting the government and blew some smoke to the side. She was playing a dangerous game at the moment. Pissing them off was not wise. Even for her
"So you wonder why we need you three? Simple. There are alot of strange and wierd things that go on in the world. Our 'normal' agents cant solve them. And most of the time turn up missing or dead. What better agents to work on the X-Files then our very own freaks" He coughed and added. "No insult intended, rather, special people. Thats how you people like to be called?"
He stood up and turned his back to Kit to look out the window. "I know you are sceptical. And you have all the rights. But the matter of it all is the NSA needs you. And sector 6 wants you dead. I am trying to protect you three. You can join our ranks and have our protection as a federal agent. Or you can return to whatever life you were living and have to look over your shoulders every few minutes in fear of something bad happening.....choose
Since it was put that way the choice was clear. Though it seemed bad now Kit would learn later down the road things here were not bad.

She didn't say a word about acceptance, but she did grab the badge and slip it in her pocket. She smiled, then, on the verge of laughing.
If you think we're freaks, you honestly have to meet some of the people I've travelled with.
She replied, in reference to Jack, mostly. Of course, not that the time lords weren't weird. But that was simply their race, so it's not like they were strange even among their own.
One of them would actually be incredibly useful. You say many die. He, I promise, wouldn't.
She wasn't joking, but it was still an amusing matter to her, talking about Jack. Mostly because of the memories. The good, fun, yet incredibly dangerous times that he'd been through with all of them. And he'd somehow made a joke out of every single one.

The director did not turn around but said simply to Kit. "Well, we have had encouters with" he cleared his throat. "Beings that got stranded here and seemingly could not die. I would show the specimen to you. But sector 6 took it from quarantine many years ago"
He turned around and set a file folder on the desk in front of her. "There are strange reports coming from the alchemist lands that things erupt into fire for no apparent reason. People even..... have burst into flames and incinerated without probable cause"
"I want you to take Atakai and go to the city to find out what is going on. I would give you more time but Sector 6 says you only have 3 days to solve it or else there closing the case.
He turned back around to look out the office window and clasped his hands behind his back. "There is a helicopter on the building helipad ready to take you and Atakai to the site"
Atakai was leaning against a railing on the building roof now also dressed in a black suit. He stood up wobbly and went over to her. "Well I have to say I'm not sure if I should kiss you or punch you for getting me back in the NSA. I'm kind of split on my feelings about them"
He was clearly not fully ready and healed up. But good enough.

OCC: I'm going to push time forward a month.
There first case was a brain teaser to say the least. The mysterious cases of people bursting into flames was never explained and Atakai and Kit were forced to close the case as 'inconclusive'
Kit was assigned normal human partners during the course of time. But one after the other they ended up dead. Ghosts, monsters, strange ritualistic murders. The cases they investigated only got wierder and wierder. Even more frustrating was the fact that all the evidence for each case always went missing.
No matter where Atakai and Kit hid the evidence to there cases. It always turned up missing. Atakai suspected sector 6 was respsonsible but made no effort to challange them. He stated once that you could hide evidence up your ass before you went to bed and would still wake up in the morning with it gone.
For some reasons Sector 6 did not want the case files solved. Kit was being assigned a new partner today and the young kid fresh from the acadamy was making his way to her office on the 8th floor of the NSA building.
He stopped right outside her office door with his papers under a arm when a agent walked by. "You being assigned to Kit?" The man made a sceptical face. "Good luck kid." The young agent looked around in confusion until someone else said to him.
"Agent Kit has had 13 partners in the course of this month. All of them KIA. She has the highest partner death rate in agency history.
The kid swallowed hard and knocked on the door to enter Kits office and set his papers on her desk. "Agent Tristan. I'm to be your new partner" Atakai was sitting at a desk on the oppost side of kit and turned in his swival chair to look at the kid and then to Kit. "I hope you keep this one alive kit....at this rate the director will make me your partner"
Atakai picked up a file and waved it at Kit. "So you going to take the new blood on this one? They had just got a case of mysterious murders in some woods outside the capital. The local farmers and hunters blame it on the 'nystara' a supposed demon dog from local legend. The autopsy reports on the vitims remains lean to that theory because of the nature of the victims being eaten. But that could easily be blamed on feral dracas that grew up away from civilization and developed a taste for man flesh.

Yeah, well, gotta go easy on him. Maybe unlike the otehrs he'll actually listen when I say splitting up isn't a good idea with these cases.
She replied with dry sarcasm, before finally looking up at Trsitan, still standing at the door.
Come on. My partner's may all end up dead, but it's not because I killed them. If you're afraid of me, it means you aren't really thinking of possibilities for solutions, problems, and so on. There's a chair to your left. You can share my desk for the first week. They won't get you a desk unless you stay alive that long.
She flicked a finger to the case file from Atakai's fingers to her desk and flipped it open. She spun it around so he could look.
Read that thoroughly, and then tell me what you think. This time we're playing through theories before we try anything.
She cleared part of her desk for her partner's further use, then leaned back to wait while he read, turning to Atakai, grinning.
And if this one dies, then maybe they'll finally allow me to track down Jack. We could even use him as bait in our cases, and he'd end up unscathed. And the crazy part is, he loves the danger.

Tristan was quick to respond to what kit said. "I assure you it is not you I am afraid of' He tapped his left temple with a finger. "I would have been able to sense your negative energy if you intended me harm"
The spare chair moved by itself and stopped under Tristan just as he sat. Something was uniqe about Kits new partner. While he read over the files Atakai stood up to take the 'new bloods' files off Kits desk.
"So your a spook huh?" Spooks. The acronym that NSA agents used to call people with mind powers. Tristan looked up to his senior and shrugged. "Spook?... Oh! Well, I am not very powerful. I can do astral projection, scrying. pyrokenises, telekenises. But all with a limited degree. I guess they figured who better to solve X-File cases then us freaks right?"
Atakai gave a sarcastic laugh. "Us freaks huh? Well the last time I checked Draca were creatures of nature. The things you SPOOKS do is unatural. So ask yourself really. Who is the real freak in this room?"
Tristan was quick to look down and submit to Atakai and resumed reading over the case files. "Um, Well I guess we could go and do an autopsy of the remains at the murder sites. Perhaps I can sense something when I am there" It was not much. But a human spook had there uses.

Perhaps. It's been agreed be officials that it's either a demon dog or wild draca, but I have a feeling its something entirely different.
Before Atakai had joined up with their crew while they were travelling, they had passed through that town. Jack had said something about a rift in time and space, and that anything from anywhere could pass through it. He'd also said something about Weevils--whatever they were-- being more likely to pass through than most anything else. And chewed up people were their speciality. She reached in and grabbed out something he'd given her that showed what the weevils teeth were like.
Compare the bites to this when you're there. I think we may be having a little intergalactic trouble.
She glanced over at Atakai and winked, standing up and ready to go.
This one'll be fun! See ya!
She grabbed a pack off the floor and tossed it to Tristan, then grabbed her own and slung it over her shoulder.

Tristan looked at the teeth in the test vial with intrest and looked up just in time to barely catch the pack. "I'm going to head down to the labs to grab some medical field kit. With that he left.
Atakai cotinued to type his report and said to Kit. "You two have fun. Unfortunatly i cant join you on this one. I have to deal with your drunk rider. I got a call that he was causing trouble at a bar" As kit started to leave Atakai added.
"And keep your eyes on the kid. According to his profile he got his mind powers after a traumatic experience as a kid"He paused for dramatic effect. "His entire family was eaten alive in front of him by, suprise, suprise, our wild kin"
I have not seen anything in his behavior to indicate it but Tristan might hate our kind enough to to shoot you in the back.
A helicopter dropped the two of them off at the town outside the capital and Tristan went to the morgue to autopsy the remains. He gave Kit a time line and when she went to the morgue Tristan had finished up and was writing a medical report on a clipboard. "I think I found something you might like to see" Using his mind powers a vial with new teeth like the ones she showed him moved in the air to Kit until she held it.
"I found those inbedded in various parts of what was left of this mans skeleton.

Kit grinned as she looked at the teeth and nodded.
I know what our problem is. They're violent, a bit dangerous, but a jolt of electricity and a bag over the head makes 'em co-operative enough. Known as weevils. Never seen one, but supposedly they smell like sewage and are ugly as hell.
Considering the bodies turned up a few days apart from each other every time, I'd say we're only dealing with one. We search the woods, round it up, sedate it, and take it on back to HQ. Good job Agent. Let's go see if we can find us an alien.
A short while later, they were both in the woods, Kit using tracking training(which they had forced her through at the time, but she was ever grateful for it now). Tristan, she had no doubt, was using his powers. Finding an unusually shaped foot print, she waved him over, and promptly began following it.
She held up her hand to indicate she was stopping and peering into a clearing. She was breathing through her mouth, considering her nose was far more sensitive than a human's, and she nodded, pointing at the weevil. She handed Tristan a bag.
I'll shock it with some magic, you go around behind and get the bag over its head.
She stood by, and, when she saw Tristan around behind the weevil, she sent out and electric pulse through the air, temporarily stunning the Weevil. She then got out a tranquilizer, ready to run over and dose the creature when the bag was over it's head.

Tristan was a little caught off guard by what Kit said as she started to leave. "Alien?" He knew there were alien nuts out there. But he never actually believed they existed. at the acadamy they taught him that the whole 'alien' theory was false information that the government leaked to the public to hear in order to cover the real truth of lights in the sky. Experimental aircraft.
Tristan was the one to quickly point out the woods the weevil was in saying only. "I sense a unusual presence" Finding the tracks Tristan knelt down and put a palm over the print to close his eyes. "Its.... confused, It does not know where it is. It is" he opened his eyes to frown. "Hungry" Tristan was proving quite the asset. A medical student and a pyschic? She would have to put more effort then her 'former' partners to protect him. Who knew when she would get another one like him.
They found the creature in a clearing looking around when she handed him the bag. "Uh, What a ugly bastard" Tristan said though by mind to Kit. He did not want to speak it and give away there position that was for sure.
Tristan crouched and slowly manuevered through the foiliage until he was behind the creture. When Kit shocked it he came out quickly to bag it over the head. he quickly learned the beast was strong as hell and he quicly jumped on its back to keep the bag on.
It took several darts to the back when it was spinning around to shake Tristan off. Facing in kits direction again the weevil put a hand back and grabbed tristan by the back of his head and flipped him over its shoulder to the ground. Tristin gasped from the breath being knocked out of him but he shot out a palm and sent the alien falling back with a bust of mental energy.
It tryed to get up but subcumed to the sedative and was in a deep sleep. Tristan stood up and straightened his black jacket and tie. The white undershirt was dirty from being thrown in the dirth though.
"Aw man, Now I need to get this thing pressed and cleaned again" He complained. He went over to stand next to kit over the sleeping monster. "Well... on the other hand better a messed up suit then being in a body bag with a toe tag. Nice shot"
He pulled out a cellphone and called in for a helicopter to pick them up. When the creature was loaded on the aircraft with them they went back to the NSA building. There on the helipad they were greeted by a new sight. New for Tristan. Not so much for Kit who knew what was going on and probably not happy.
It was the Sector 6 raptor unit in the black tactical gear and gasmasks. They looked creepy as hell mostly because of the masks eye ports that were black and bulby like a insects.
The squad leader pushed Kit back with a hand and kept his machine gun ready in the other. He spoke through the mask in a muffled voice. "You have done well agents. Sector 6 will take care of the specimen" men in biohazard suits came out and loaded the weevil onto a stretcher to take it away to who knew where.
Kit had learned awhile ago that messing with these uniformed black ops soldiers was not smart. There armor was made of a metal that nullified magic so she was just a normal human in comparison to them. But you could feel sorry for them to. Genetically engineered and having gone through gene therapy these warriors were the peak of human physical perfection. But unlike most. They were grown in labs. And trained from childhood to be what they are. Deprived of any kind of love or emotion they were the perfect warriors.
Of course there lives were limited to only a couple of years because of rapid cell degeneration. In twenty more years they would look like old men. Even pro creation was not possible for these men. The cromosone responsible for breeding was removed so they were sterile. One could only guess it was a coutermeasure in case they were ever captured by the enemy.
The mysterious raptor unit left and Tristan was left confused. "Who are they?" Kit probably would not care about the question now. All the work the two of them did went down the shiter. Now the case report would have to end unfinished as always.
Atakai was sitting at his desk and Zarza was drunk and asleep on a couch when they walked in. Atakai took one look at kit and said. "let me guess, The sector 6 goon squad came and took away the evidence?" He stood up and started to put on his jacket. "Screw it. our shift is done for today. You can write the report up tommorow. So how did the new blood do?" hearing her response he smiled to pat the kid on the shoulder.
"Good job agent. I see you are a valuable part of the team. Me and kit like to end the day by hitting up our favorite bar. It helps to ease the disapointment of having Sector 6 always take away our evidence. How about it? Want to have a couple of shots of tequila and flamin samboocas?
Zarza perked up as he heard the word bar. But he sank his head from some unheard conversation between him and Kit. Tristan scratched at his mustache in thought and nodded his head. "Sure, that would be fun"

Zarza will be heading home to sleep and hopefully overcome his hangover by tomorrow. As he is my rider, technically, he often works with me and my partner. You'll meet him tomorrow after he's taken some pain killers for his headache.
Kit told Tristan, grin on her face as she joked about the killer hangover Zarza would no doubt have hte next day.
Luckily, our connections a little screwy, so I don't act drunk when he is drunk.
It went without saying that, as she didn't mention herself getting drunk, she was likely the designated driver of the bunch. A little to drnik, but perfectly in control. And she was. There were those few nights, usually just after she lost a partner, or the case ended in death and not Sector 6, that she would let go. Atakai or Zarza usually picked up her role for the night when that happened. No matter how long she worked here, she still felt she was to blame for not protecting those who died well enough while she was investigating.
Kit went over to the couch to help Zarza up, letting him drape an arm around her shoulders to keep him upright. She glanced up at the otehr two.
One of you help me out, would you? Or are you gonna leave the girl to do all the work?

Tristan was quick to go over and help his partner. Atakai knew she was quite capable being the tomboy she was. The fact Kit asked for help actually surprised him a bit. No matter he thought.
When they loaded Zarza's drunk ass in the car Atakai drove the black sedan style vehicle to Kits apartment to drop off Zarza. When that was done they drove to a small hole in the wall somwhere called "The cloak and dagger"
Tristan got out and smiled a bit at the name. "How appropriate" Atakai closed his door and went over to open Kits door for her. "Yeah, well tonights ladys night'
Tristan and Atakai seemed pretty happy about that. A shame Kit was not drinking as all of the drinks were free for the ladys that day. And drinks now adays were getting pricy.

Kit slipped out and tousled Atakai's hair, almost as if he was a little kid.
Yeah, well, I can make that grow out of you want to try and trick them.
Tristan wouldn't know, but every ladies night she offered. It was a joke, but it had become almost like a tradition, in a way. She opened the door up, holding it open for Tristan and Atakai, despite complaints from those near it. The loudest was a shout of 'f you're not coming in, get out!", or something along those lines. It was slurred.
Give us a second, Cae.
She called in to the man, a regular she and Atakai occasionally talked to while they were here. Caedyn glanced over and realized who it was and gave a lopsided, foolishly looking smile.
Aw, well if i taint lil Kitaro and the gang! Good ta see you 'gain!
With the other two in and the door shut, Kit went over and slipped up on a stool, calling out 'One of the usual' to the bartender.
Yep, and we brought a new kid along. Caedyn, meet Tristan. Tristan, this is Cae.
The older man lifted a hand to wave at the newer agent. There was a scar across the palm of his hand, from a blade. Kit had saved him on one of her first missions, and he was the only one that Sector 6 had ever let go, mostly because it actually wasn't a freak creature causing trouble. It had just been a serial killer. Considering it normal crime, they hadn't even shown up. His case was the only one Kit considered a complete success.

Atakai took a seat next to the man and said. "You should think about setting up camp here Cae. Do you ever leave this place?" The man just grunted as he drank not from a pint of beer, but a whole pitcher.
Atakai was satisfied from the response considering Cae never really responded to people unless he liked them. The grunt was kind of a informal hello.
Atakai let out a satisfied sigh as he put his glass down. "Nothing like a cold glass of golden goodness after a hard days work" Atakai hardly worked hard from sitting behind a desk. But that tended to happen to experienced agents. They were taken out of the field and put to pasture to teach others.
He gently shoved kit in the shoulder when she laughed. "hey! You try sitting behind a desk all day typing reports. It aint easy. What I would give to be in the field again"
Tristan was sipping away at something that Atakai thought was pretty weak. "You a lightweight kid?" Tristan shrugged and looked at his glass. "I'm really only a social drinker so I dont like anything that will put me on my ass"
Tristan's gaze went to the room full of women all there for the free drinks and a quick lay. That or they were with friends. Tristan would find that out if he was shot down in flames.
Atakai followed Tristans gaze to a rather fat girl in his oppinion. But he was not one to judge. "like the biggins eh? Go on then. Just remember. Dont be a fool, wrap the tool" Tristan got up nervously indicating he was not good about talking to girls. But he fortified himself by straighting the tie and walking away towards the one he wanted to talk to.
Atakai did little but window shop. Kinda strange how he prefered to be around Kit the other girls. But then again not so strange. They were friends. There was a small dance floor and a women came up to take hold of Atakai's tie. "Wanna dance secret agent man?"
Atakai just smiled and tipped his beer glass at her. "Sorry, but I am here with friends to socialize" She frowned but said nothing more to walk off. Atakai knew Kit for awhile now and looked to her and then the dance floor. Knowing exactly what she was thinking he said "Dont even think about it. I dont like to dance." He took out cigeretts from his inside jacket pocket to light one up and exhale a cloud.
"And besides, Its not socially acceptable or even appropriate for two coworkers to dance. Drinking together is kind of pushing it" it sounded like he was quoting the agency policy rather then saying what he really wanted to do.

Oh, give me a break. Like you give a damn about the coworkers part.
She replied, raising an eyebrow.
Though I suppose I can believe you about not liking dancing, considering I've never seen you dance even once.
She replied, spinning around on the stool to watch the floor, keeping an eye on Tristan. She'd only ever lost partners while on the job, but she was still cautious when she had nothing better to do. She leaned back, elbows on the bar, drink in her right hand.
If you change your mind, just let me know...
She glanced over as Cae chuckled slightly, though low enough that it was mostly covered by the music.
