Kit growled softly as she knelt to the blood, as if checking to make sure that was what it was. She sniffed slightly, her sensitive draca nose picking up the scent. Subconsciously, she knew who had taken him and that she couldn't go after them alone. But something else got in the way of that sensibility--Kit's compassion. There was a chance he was still alive, if ever so slim. And even if he wasn't, he deserved to be buried in his home, not left to become bones for decoration.
With the silence of the city, the cracking of her bones as she changed was deafeningly loud. But, before anyone could come running and stop her, she was in the air. And, once she was in the air, she was exactly like her mother--Nearly uncatchable. Small, lithe, and fast as hell, she took off, letting her nose lead the way, focusing entirely upon going fast and trailing the scent until she caught sight of the dragon who had him.
She manipulated the light around her so that it wasn't reflecting off her anymore--effectively making her invisible--and she continued, letting herself stay afloat due to air currents rather than flapping her wings. It was a soundless approach. The other dragon hardly had a chance before Kit's invisible teeth sunk into the scaled neck, surprisingly vicious for the peacekeeping female, and she flung her head side to side to tear it. Even if it didn't snap the spinal cord--though it likely did--it would be bleeding enough that the opposing dragon would never catch up to her for a good while.
She flipped upside down and under the otehr dragon, catching the boy as he fell. She didn't have time to check whether he was okay or not, but she did change so that only her dragon wings were out and she was in a human body as she flew back. Not as fast, but certainly faster than could have been expected.

From the pain of the tearing in her kneck the female let go of the boy and turned to retreating to her nest in the moutains. She landed hard and went over to her babys that cryed out in hunger in a small cave on. She sniffed at each one in greeting and lied down to sleep and rest. She never woke up as the wound took its hold.
The boy was reletivly okey accept for the talon puncture wound in his shoulder. "Let me go!" The boy called

Take it easy. Don't tell me that you wanted to be her lunch? And I don't eat people. Never have. Draca are much more civilized than the dragons around here.
She informed him, and glanced down at the ground, which was a good few miles below them.
And, anyway, I doubt you want to fall that far, either. I'll take you home, and if you don't run away, I'll heal up that wound on your shoulder. Alright?
She expected more struggling, so set up a shield around them that wouldn't allow him out, so that if he managed to struggle free, he wouldn't fall to his death.

The boy felt a strange presence in his mind. Almost as if there was another setient being there besides him. He did not quite like it much. The boy did not know what draca were. But he knew they were definetly different then the dragons around there.
Since he was dangling upside down stopping to pause and reacess the situation the ancient decided that 'her letting go' would not be in his best intrest. The boy stopped struggling. But his fear was still evident as he breathed heavily behind his gasmask.
"Please dont eat me!" The boy begged though it should have been quite obvoius by now by kits actions and her verbal assurances that humans were not on her food menu.
At least he was not struggling anymore. "Take me down anywhere! I can find my own way home. Just put me down near a manhole" Sewer manholes. Like to rabbits. Where entrances to protection and sactuary to the ancients. Also a means to get to the VAULT. A underground city that was there home.
When Kit put him down on the streets gently the boy scrambled to all fours an crawled to the nearest manhole and pried it open. A distant roar showed why this young boy did not want to be in the open. It must have been funny to kit to see humans behaving like a common rabbit. But then again the situation hardly made it funny.
The boy crawled inside the manhole and said briefly in cunfusion. "Uh.... thank you????" By the way he spoke. It seemed unusual that dragons could talk. At least by his standards. The ones around here were stupid. And not naive stupid like wyverns. But feral, wild.
With a clang. The manhole sealed shut and the ancient was gone. Probably not the most exciting situation to meet a supposed exinct race of man that supposedly created the dragon race.
In any case everyone would get close and personal with the ancients later that night at the reasearch compound. Though they seemed like scavangers..... like coyotes trying to scrape a living of anything they can find. Everyone was going to find out just how dangerous the ancients could be when provoked. And the adventuring partys presence was not taken well. Especially after one of there younglings spoke tails of talking dragons.

Kit sighed and retracted her wings, wandering back to, approximately, where the group should be. She noticed she was either the first one back to their meeting spot, or they had somehow realized she was missing and had gone looking for her. She hoped for the former, but she didn't really care. She was tired, so instead of waiting for them, she found a spot to curl up and go to sleep, even though it wasn't the brightest idea while she was alone. Not that she could've kept her eyes open, even if she wanted to.

Everyone trickled into the rally point slowly. With Niko and Atakai being last and not to any ones surprise. In some kind of heated argumant. About what? Well by now the more oberservant people would have noticed that Atakai liked kit. And that her cousin Niko was always giving him crap about it.
"How come I saw you talking to her this morning?" Niko asked. Atakai grumbled now growing tired of the constant fighting with this guy. "I only asked her if she wanted to go looking around the city with me" Niko replied in his own grumble as the two finally stopped arguieing. "Yeah right. I know what your after tatterwing and I say she is to good for you. I will not allow it"
Finally with the two stragglers there they got to talking about what they saw. Niko shook his head. "All I saw were ruined builings. Nothing else" He looked to Atakai. Atakai shook his head. "Just ghosts and shadows, nothing else. Is everyone satisfied this dead city has nothing of intrest or do you want to stay another night? How about you Kit? You see anything" He looked to kit and smiled. But that smile turned to a grimance of pain.
Niko was tapping a foot in irritation and bordom. Turning his head to look at the man he did not trust or like frankly. He saw him looking at his cousin like a smiling idiot. "Oh no you dont" Niko thought. "I got something for your ass. I see you unwrapping my cousin with your eyes!" Raising the heal of his boot Niko rammed it down on top of Atakais foot quickly putting an end to it all.
No body accept maybe kit would have seen what happened as Atakai stood on one foot while holding the other in his hands. At the strange looks he got from everyone Atakai put the hurt foot down. "Oh its nothing. I stubbed my toe on a rock" It was Niko's turn to smile like an idiot.
It might have seemed strange to some for a cousin to be so protective. But then again since Rothgar disapeared long ago. Niko and Kit were more like brother and sister. And brothers were always protective of there sisters.

Kit glared at Niko, but that was certainly not the most pressing matter right now.
I saved a boy today. There are people here, living underground.
She informed them, having woke up when they first started coming in. She was far from fully rested, but she was more than awake enough. While the others thought about what she'd said, she, while still looking at everyone else, told Niko something else, using psychic connections.
I can take care of myself, Niko. And, honestly, he has saved my life, though not in this time. Not to mention, I know how to paralyze him in an instant. Do you really think I'm that helpless? That I can somehow save Alalea but can't take care of myself?
Yeah, she'd noticed what Niko had done, and had heard their argument. And now she was pretty much telling him to piss off.

Atakai lingered over the thought before speaking. "That cant be. There is no one here besides us. Unless...." He left the thouht unfinished to say. "Okey, how about we return to the compound before nightfall"
Niko did not take his cousins redicule seriously. "Oh I I'm sure your not that helpless. Why else would a jerkoff like him have to rescue you. And dident you say you learned that wierd move from him? Dont you wonder what else he can do?"
That did leave room for thought. What else did Atakai know that everyone else did not. It seemed alot so far. And as usual he was not sharing that well of knowledge. When they got back Niko cooked in the kitchen after a unanomous vote.
In the small mess hall everyone sat down eating. Accept for Atakai who relieve the doctor in the security monitoring station.
Niko had just finished a plate and reached over to the pot in the center of the table. "I tell you Atakai knows more then he is letting on. I say he quiestion him about it.

Niko did not discover what anyone else thought on Atakai. It seemed they were more concerned about eating then hearing his oppinion.
With the night pretty much over everyone went to there respective sleeping areas. Niko now on guard having relieved Atakai leaned back on a chair with his feet propped up on a desk. He let out a yawn as he watched the security camera monitors around the compound walls.
"Kit is just paranoid. Theres no one in the city" With that Niko closed his eyes to sleep on guard. No sooner then he did human figures in black tactical gear and gasmasks crossed the security monitor. Nikos lazyness would be costly.
What could be called a stereotypical blackops soldier nelt near a wire fence that made up the inner parimeter of the compound. While his buddys pulled security the mysterous stranger pulled out what looked like a spraycan. Spraying it on the fence wire in a circular motion the metal hissed and burned. Grabbing the cut off piece of fence the warrior pulled it away revealing a circular cut entrance.
Quietly they all entered the compound and split off into there teams. "Clear left" a voice muffled from behind his gasmask. "Clear right" Another one repleid as they cleared the hallways of the compound. It was not long until they got to the living quarters.
Since everyone slept in the same big room it made it easy for these infiltrators to catch them off guard. With a loud bang from a shotgun the lock on the door was shot out and the door was kicked open. A strange looking grenade was tossed in. But instead of exploding and killing. It popped creating a blinding flash and a earsplitting bang that caused everyone to fall on the ground in confusion and pain. Four warriors in black streamed into the room and forced everyone on the bellys and zip tied there wrists behind there backs.
One by one everyone was forced onto there feet until what was obviously the squad leader came up to kit on the floor and looked down at her through his gasmask. "You people should not have come here" With that he raised a boot and planted it into her face putting her to rest.
Kit would wake up in a small room covered in darkness save for the lonely light attached to wire singing creepily above kits head. She was sitting in a chair with her wrists tied behind the back.
The same man who planted his boot in her face came into the room through a door. Going over to a table the soldier put his assualt rifle down and took off his gasmask revealing his scarred face. A giant claw mark from the primitive reptiles that hunt his people. "Why are you here?" He asked her.
Not getting the answer he wated the man backhanded her acrosse the face. "Why are you here!?" Once again not hearing what he wanted the man wearing black backhanded her and turned away to start taking off his gloves and tactical vest.
"Why is it your kind can talk? Did you come from across the wastelands to prey on my people to? Why are you here!? The man turned around suddenly to strike her again. He stopped the beating interogation to start cleaning the blood that had started to collect on her eyes. "I take no pleasure in this" He said softly. "you look so much like my daughter" There was a paush. "Its almost creepy"
He took a bottle of water with a straw in it and offered it to kit. "Drink" A camera in the corner of the room hummed as it turned to look at them. A voice on the cieling mike spoke. "lieutenent. What have you learned" The officer shrugged to tilt his head in kits direction. "Nothing yet but"
The voice yelled back. "I dont want excuses! Get it done! Cut off her fingers! Pluck out an eye! Do what you must. The attacks from the surface are increasing. They must have lead them here. We cannot hold them off for long" The man grumbled to turn back towards Kit.
"I am sorry" He backhanded her again. "Why are you here! Are you with them!? Did you show them the archway to the vault? Why does your kind want to kill us all!? Answer me!
This guy was not entirely a bad man. Perhaps Kit could use some of the negotiton tactics she learned from her father when he was an abasador. Diplomacy after all ran in her blood.

She was, indeed, thinking of these things, but first came protection. She let her mind wander, forget the pain, which was hard, but she managed. Soon enough her mind was empty, and she opened her eyes. They flashed for a minute, turning golden, and a thin shield of magic formed around her. Not wide enough to reach the lieutenant, but it covered her whole body.
Through torture comes nothing. You give a little, and I will give a little back. How much you get, depends on how much you give.
She'd played this 'game' with her parents many times, offering to do things such as sort paperwork in return for something she'd dearly wanted at the time. The only difference, was this was a matter of life or death.
Since you have given me something to drink, I will, in return, answer a question. Our party came to explore the farther reaches of Alalea, out of curiosity. Nothing more. Now it is your turn.
She seemed calm, remarkably so. Kit was good at hiding how she felt. In truth, she was scared. But, it only showing by the magic shield, which, though mostly transparent, retained a slight yellow color--The color of caution. Luckily, yellow was also known to make people more agreeable. Or, at least, that was what she'd heard.
I'll answer another question if you answer mine--Are my friends alright?

The man did not seem so amused. "Do you think I am playing games!" He pulled out a pistol of some sort from a hip holster and tried to put it up to Kits forehead. The yellowish shield prevented it fortunatly.
Puting the weapon away the man grumbled. "Fine, I will play your silly games girl. Your friends are fine. All your answers seem to collaborate with eachother
The voice came back from the cieling mike instructing the officer to let her go on orders from the chancellor. The man went behind her and untied the bindings. "You have made some kind of inpression for the chancellor to pardon you. Perhaps because his son was recently saved by a talking dragon....

Kit breathed what could only be a sigh of relief.
Oh, so he's alright! I thought for a moment the blood loss would be too much, but he wouldn't let me heal him.
Of course, then she remembered they wanted answers.
As for us...well, only three of us our part draca. One full, one half draca half wyvern, and me...Half draca, half Light dragon, half Dark dragon. Considered, in general, just draca. We change, have human form and a dragon form. Created by magic by an evil man named Galbatorix to do battle. One of us started a rebellion, Cain, his name was. Then Alagaesia fell into darkness, everyone came here to Alalea. Humans, elves, dwarves, us...everyone. The draca have been free for quite awhile now. We're actually quite civilized. Most of us, anyway. But, there will always be some within every race that defy the general nature.
